Buccaneers Sign Faine, Interested in DJ Hackett

Stephen Holder of the St. Petersburg Times is reporting that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have agreed to a multi-year contract with free agent center Jeff Faine (Saints).

Holder suggests that Faine's contract could exceed previous deals signed by Cleveland's LeCharles Bentley and Chicago's Olin Kruetz, and adds that the Bucs are interested in free agent wide receiver DJ Hackett (Seahawks).

Bucs Lose Williams, Petitgout for Season

One of the best stories of 2007 has been the play of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Aside from laying a Week 1 egg in Seattle, the Buccaneers have rattled off three straight wins and are in 1st place in the NFC South.

For now.

Today's 20-7 win over the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte came with a heavy price, as RB Cadillac Williams and LT Luke Petitgout were lost for the season with knee injuries.

Tampa Bay Selects DE Gaines Adams

Mac's Instant Analysis: Tampa Bay pined after Calvin Johnson, but ultimately couldn't do enough to move up to get him. So they "settle" for DE Gaines Adams, this drafts best defensive player. Very safe move, as the Bucs have been getting ancient on that side of the ball.

Ckukwurah Is a Buc

The Tampa Tribune is reporting free agent DE Patrick Chukwurah has signed a 5-year, $5.5M deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Chukwurah spent the first three years of his career in Minnesota, and the last three in Denver. With the Broncos, Chukwurah stepped out from the "special teamer" role and notched 4.5 sacks for the Broncos in 2006.

The most talked about play Chukwurah ever made was when he vomited on the field during a Sunday night game against the New England Patriots this season. Fortunately, YouTube has this clip readily available.
