Patriots Select Jerod Mayo

It was clear that the New England Patriots needed to get younger at linebacker, which is why I had them selecting USC linebacker Keith Rivers with the 7th pick.

After trading down, and seeing Rivers go the Bengals at pick 9, the Patriots grabbed the 2nd best linebacker in the draft, University of Tennessee linebacker Jerod Mayo.

Mayo is an impressive athlete with the versatility to play inside or outside, and I predict that even as a rookie, he will be an immediate impact player on Patriots defense.
