Carolina Panthers second-year wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett plead guilty to DWI charges on Monday, moments before his case was scheduled to go to trial.
Jarrett was arrested on March 11th in Mint Hill, North Carolina, and registered a BAC of .12, above North Carolina's legal limit, and the standard limit just about everywhere, of .08.
In addition to entering the NFL's substance abuse program, Jarrett has surrendered his driver's license, will perform 24 hours of community service and was ordered to pay $420 in court costs.
"This is a thing that happened and you learn from your mistakes," Jarrett said. "You always have to take the right steps in everything you do. That's life in general. I took full responsibility for what happened. I'm here in court. Everything worked out."
Jarrett is expected to compete this summer with veterans Muhsin Muhammed and D.J. Hackett for the Panthers' starting wide receiver position opposite Steve Smith.
