University of Nebraska cornerback Alfonzo Dennard was arrested earlier this morning after allegedly assaulting a Lincoln, Nebraska police officer, Sam McKewon of the Omaha World-Herald reports.

According to the report, Dennard was fighting with another man outside a bar at 2:15am. Dennard allegedly pushed and punched one police officer who was attempting to break up the fight and four officers were required to take Dennard into custody.

Dennard was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault on an officer, resisting arrest and was also cited for third-degree assault in connection with the bar fight.

The 5-foot-10, 204-pound Dennard was a first-team All-Big Ten selection in 2011 who recorded 91 tackles, four interceptions and 21 passes defensed during his college career that concluded with an ejection from the Capitol One Bowl for fighting with South Carolina wide receiver Alshon Jeffery.
