The Philadelphia Eagles announced that they have agreed to terms on a five-year contract with free agent offensive tackle Demetress Bell, who was formerly known as "Demetrius".
Financial terms were not disclosed.
A seventh round pick out of Northwestern State by the Buffalo Bills in 2008, the 6-foot-5, 311-pound Bell sat his entire rookie season before starting 30 of 31 games over the 2009, 2010 and 2011 seasons. Bell missed nine games with shoulder and knee injuries in 2011.
Bell visited the Eagles on Saturday and Sunday after meeting with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Friday. In the first week of free agency, Bell visited both the Arizona Cardinals (3/14) and Washington Redskins (3/16).
The Eagles are looking for a left tackle after losing Pro Bowl left tackle Jason Peters to a ruptured Achilles tendon last week. Peters underwent successful surgery on Tuesday and could miss the entire 2012 season.
