The Jacksonville Jaguars and cornerback Rashean Mathis have agreed to a one-year, $5 million contract, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Mathis, 31, earned $4.45 million in base salary last season and was scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent on March 13.
A 2003 second round pick out of Bethune-Cookman, Mathis has started all 125 games he's appeared with the Jaguars over the last nine seasons, totaling 498 tackles, one sack, 30 interceptions and 78 passes defensed.
Mathis finished the 2011 season on injured reserve after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee.
