Dallas Cowboys cornerback Mike Jenkins could miss 3-4 weeks with a hamstring injury, Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas reports.
Jenkins, who has played through a shoulder injury this season, injured his hamstring in the third quarter of last night's 34-7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, totaling 18 tackles and an interception in seven games this season.
Nickel cornerback Orlando Scandrick, who started one game earlier this season for Terence Newman and last night when the Eagles opened with three wide receivers, would start opposite Newman.
The timeframe would keep Jenkins out of games against the Seattle Seahawks, Buffalo Bills, Washington Redskins and possibly the Miami Dolphins as the Cowboys will play four games in a 19-day span.

The Washington Redskins have claimed running back Tashard Choice off waivers from the Dallas Cowboys, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Choice had fallen behind rookies DeMarco Murray and Phillip Tanner on Dallas' running back depth chart, which is topped by 2008 second-round pick Felix Jones.

A 2002 first round pick (26th overall) out of Florida by the Philadelphia Eagles, Sheppard has 302 tackles and 19 interceptions during his nine-year career, which has included two appearances in the Pro Bowl (2004, 2006).

Giants CB Justin Tryon Undergoes Surgery On Broken Arm
Justin Tryon became the latest New York Giants cornerback to suffer a serious injury, undergoing surgery on Monday to repair a broken arm, head coach Tom Coughlin announced on Monday according to Mike Vorkunov of The Star-Ledger.
A 2008 fourth-round pick out of Arizona State by the Washington Redskins, Tryon started two of 29 games for the Redskins over the 2008 and 2009 seasons, totaling 31 tackles, a quarterback sack and an interception. Traded to the Colts before the 2010 season, Tryon started six of 12 games last season, making 44 tackles and had seven passes defensed.
Released by the Indianapolis Colts earlier this month, the Giants signed Tryon on October 4. Tryon has made three tackles in three games for the Giants, two of which came on special teams, including a key stop on Miami Dolphins punt returner Reggie Bush in the fourth quarter on Sunday. Tryon had been playing with the injured arm when he made that play, which reportedly exacerbated the injury.

Broncos To Stick With Tebow
Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow will remain the team's starter next week against the Oakland Raiders, head coach John Fox announced on Monday.
"We've got to see if he can improve and get better in the passing game," Fox said according to The Denver Post. "We're getting to know him better and he's getting to understand the offense better with each one of those snaps."
Tebow struggled in Sunday's 45-10 loss to the Detroit Lions, completing just 18-of-39 pass attempts for 172 yards with a touchdown and an interception, which was returned 100 yards for a touchdown, as the Lions sacked him seven times for -55 yards.
On one of those sacks, in the third quarterback by Cliff Avril, Tebow fumbled, with Avril scooping up the fumble and returning it 24 yards for a touchdown early in the third quarter.
After Sunday's game, Fox had been non-committal about who his starting quarterback would be just two games after replacing Kyle Orton with Tebow. Denver's No. 3 quarterback, Brady Quinn, has not played this season.

An undrafted free agent from Ohio State, Saine had 19 carries for 51 yards, six receptions for 36 yards and a special teams tackle for the Packers during the preseason. Saine did not make the 53-man roster coming out of training camp, but has spent the first eight weeks of the season on the practice squad.
Green, a third-round pick out of Hawaii, had three carries for 11 yards, one reception for six yards in the four games he was active.
The Packers also signed safety Anthony Levine and rookie center Paul Fenaroli to the practice squad.

The Chicago Bears announced that the start time of their November 13 home game against the Detroit Lions has been changed to 4:15pm ET, 3:15pm local time.
The game was originally scheduled to kick off at 1pm ET (12pm local time).

Jets Sign TE Shawn Nelson; Add Four To Practice Squad
The New York Jets announced that they have signed veteran tight end Shawn Nelson to their 53-man roster.
A 2009 fourth-round pick (121st overall) out of Southern Mississippi by the Buffalo Bills, Nelson caught 20 passes for 181 yards and a touchdown in 17 games over his first two seasons. After a promising rookie season, Nelson was suspended for the first four games of the 2010 season for violating the league's substance abuse policy and finished the season on the "Reserve/Non-Football Illness" list.
Nelson did not appear in any of the Bills' preseason games and was waived on September 3. Nelson had a tryout with the New England Patriots on September 10 and worked out for the Jets on October 25.
Offensive linemen Matt Kroul and Dennis Landolt, tight end Jamarko Simmons and linebacker Ricky Sapp have been signed to the practice squad.
Sapp, a 2010 fifth-round pick by the Philadelphia Eagles, and Simmons, an athletic, former undrafted free agent out of Western Michigan, worked out for the Jets along with Nelson last Tuesday.

Sacks Provide Little Solace To DeMarcus Ware
Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware picked up four quarterback sacks on Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick on Sunday night, upping his season total to 12.
Ware is on pace to become the first player to post two 20 quarterback sack seasons and to shatter the single-season sack record, but his individual performance couldn't take the sting out of the 34-7 loss.
"It really doesn’t matter," Ware said via Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas. "We were able to get some pressure on (Vick) but we’ve got to go back this week, watch the film, correct the things we need to correct and get better. We can’t harp on how things went this week. You’ve got to get better and it’s just one game."
Ware trails Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen by a half sack, but has one fewer game played on the season. Allen is off this week and the Cowboys host the Seattle Seahawks, whose start two rookie offensive linemen and rank 31st in the NFL in sacks allowed per passing attempt.

Bill Cowher Does Not Plan On Coaching In 2012
Former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach and current CBS analyst Bill Cowher has been linked to the Miami Dolphins, with Mike Freeman of CBSSports.com reporting that owner Stephen Ross had reached out to intermediaries for Cowher to gauge his interest in the position.
Both Ross and Cowher denied the report, and Cowher took a moment to address the rumors during the CBS' pregame show, stating that he has no plans to return to coaching in 2012.
"I have not been contacted directly, or indirectly by any football team or any organization," Cowher said. "It's all speculation and it's unfortunate because it affects the lives of many that are in the profession.
"I am here to say to you today: I do not plan on coaching next year. I love where I work, and more importantly, I enjoy the people that I work with up here. And so I can put all the speculation to rest and if I have to repeat this in December again, I will.
"It's (coaching) a tough profession. I know the speculation is out there and I'm flattered by it, to be honest with you, but at the same time, it affects too many people's lives. I like what I'm doing right here and I plan on being back in the same seat next year."
Cowher, 54, had a 149-90-1 regular season record and 12-9 postseason record with a Super Bowl win (XL) during his 15 years as head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Bears, Ravens Plan To Franchise Matt Forte, Ray Rice
The Chicago Bears and Baltimore Ravens plan to use the franchise tag on running backs Matt Forte and Ray Rice next offseason, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Both running backs were chosen in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft and are earning $600,000 base salaries in the final year of their rookie contracts.
Forte was selected with the 44th overall pick and has rushed for 3,908 yards and 20 touchdowns, with 209 receptions for 1,914 yards and eight touchdowns out of the backfield. Through seven weeks in 2011, Forte leads the NFL with 1,091 yards from scrimmage.
Rice was selected 11 spots later and after sitting behind Willis McGahee for a year, has 3,439 yards and 14 touchdowns with 200 receptions for 1,868 yards and four touchdowns. Rice went to the Pro Bowl following the 2009 season and ranks sixth with 763 yards from scrimmage this season.
The formula for calculating the franchise tag has changed in the new collective bargaining agreement. Instead of using the average of the Top 5 cap numbers from players at a particular position from the previous season, the formula now takes the amounts of franchise tenders for players at that position for the five previous seasons, divides that by the sum of the salary caps of the five previous seasons and multiplies that percentage by the salary cap for the upcoming league year.
No running backs received the franchise tag in 2011, but Schefter reports the tender amount is expected to drop from $9.45 million to $7.71 million in 2012. (My early projections calls for a $7.615 million number for running backs.) Forte has reportedly turned down a long-term offer that included around $13-14 million in guaranteed money.

Seahawks Activate CB Roy Lewis Off PUP
The Seattle Seahawks have activated cornerback Roy Lewis off the physically unable to perform list.
Undrafted out of the University of Washington in 2008, Lewis spent his first season in the NFL and his first two training camps with the Pittsburgh Steelers. After an eight-week stint on the Seahawks' practice squad at the start of the 2009 season, Lewis was added to the 53-man roster and has 29 tackles, one quarterback sack and four passes defensed in 22 games over the 2009-10 seasons.
Lewis played cornerback in Seattle's nickel defense and had eight tackles as a captain of the team's special teams units last season before suffering a knee injury last December. With Seattle losing cornerbacks Marcus Trufant (back) and Walter Thurmond (leg) to season-ending injuries the last two weeks, Lewis' return from PUP couldn't have come at a better time.
Seattle had an open roster spot after placing offensive tackle Tyler Polumbus on waivers earlier this week.

Steelers Sign LB Mortty Ivy Off Practice Squad
The Pittsburgh Steelers announced that they have signed linebacker Mortty Ivy off their practice squad.
Defensive lineman Corbin Bryant has been placed on waivers.
Originally signed by the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent out of West Virginia in 2009, the 6-foot-1, 239-pound Ivy has much of his first two seasons on practices with the Panthers, St. Louis Rams and Miami Dolphins.
Ivy went to training camp with the Steelers in 2011, totaling 19 tackles, a quarterback sack and a forced fumble, but did not make the 53-man roster. Ivy has been on the Steelers' practice squad in all seven weeks of this season.
Steelers linebackers James Harrison and Jason Worilds have been ruled out for Sunday's game against the New England Patriots and inside linebacker James Farrior is questionable and not expected to play with a calf injury.

Patriots Activate Kevin Faulk, Brandon Deaderick To Active Roster
The New England Patriots announced that they have activated running back Kevin Faulk and Brandon Deaderick off the physically unable to perform list.
The 35-year-old Faulk is coming off a torn ACL that ended his 2010 season last September. Faulk has run for just 3,550 yards and 16 touchdowns during his 12 seasons with the Patriots, but has caught 424 passes for 3,667 yards and 15 touchdowns and is an excellent pass-blocker, a role in the offense Faulk is expected to play over the final ten weeks.
Deaderick adds depth along the defensive line.
Both Faulk and Deaderick returned to practice during the Patriots' bye week, starting their three-week windows to be added to the 53-man roster. Defensive tackle Ron Brace remains on PUP, while 2011 fifth-round guard Marcus Cannon is on the reserve/non-football injury list.
To make room for Faulk and Deaderick, second-round cornerback Ras-I Dowling has been placed on injured reserve. The Patriots already had an open roster spot with the Friday release of veteran cornerback Leigh Bodden.

As expected, the New Orleans Saints have activated second-year running back Chris Ivory from the physically unable to perform list, Jeff Duncan of The Times-Picayune reports.
Reserve tight end Tory Humphrey has been placed on waivers.
Signed as an undrafted free agent out of Tiffin University, Ivory led the Saints with 716 yards and 5 touchdowns rushing in 2010 before being placed on injured reserve with a foot injury in January.
The Saints' backfield will be without 2011 first-round pick Mark Ingram, who has been ruled out for Sunday's game with the St. Louis Rams with a bruised heel. Ingram leads the team with 329 yards and five touchdowns this season.

Rams Activate CB Marquis Johnson Off PUP
The St. Louis Rams have activated cornerback Marquis Johnson from the physically unable to perform list.
Cornerback Brian Jackson was placed on injured reserve to make room for Johnson.
A 2010 seventh-round pick out of Alabama, Johnson had two tackles in two games during his rookie season, most of which was spent on the Rams' practice squad injured reserve list with a knee injury that kept him on the PUP list at the start of the season.
Johnson returned to practice on October 19 and could see action in nickel situations against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

Cowboys Waive RB Tashard Choice
The Dallas Cowboys have waived running back Tashard Choice, ESPN Dallas reports.
Choice was listed as "Questionable" for Sunday night's game against the Dallas Cowboys with shoulder and hamstring injuries. His release clears a roster spot to add 2011 second-round linebacker Bruce Carter off the "Reserve/Non-Football Injury" list.
A 2008 fourth-round pick out of Georgia Tech, Choice has rushed for 1,139 yards on 250 rushing attempts over the last 54 games, with eight touchdowns. The 5-foot-10, 218-pound running back has added 64 receptions for 497 yards out of the backfield.
Choice is earning a $600,000 base salary this season, which is the final year of his four-year, $2.144 million rookie contract. Any team that claims Choice off waivers will be on the hook for $317,647 in base salary for the remaining nine weeks of the regular season.

Broncos RB Willis McGahee Fined $7,500
Denver Broncos running back Willis McGahee has been ruled out for this Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions after requiring surgery to repair a broken hand.
To add insult to injury, McGahee has been fined $7,500 by the National Football League for grabbing the face mask of Miami Dolphins cornerback Sean Smith, resulting in a 15-yard penalty and breaking the fourth metacarpal on his hand while negating an 11-yard run.
The fine is just a small slice of the veteran running back's $58,824 game checks.

Seahawks S Kam Chancellor Was Not Fined For Roughing Colt McCoy
Seattle Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor was not fined by the National Football League for his unnecessary roughness penalty on Cleveland Browns quarterback Colt McCoy, the league office confirmed to Mac's Football Blog on Friday.
Late in the first quarter of the Browns' 6-3 win, the Browns faced a 3rd-and-5 from the Seahawks' 42-yard line. Chancellor blitzed off the edge and sacked McCoy for a 10-yard loss. Referee Mike Carey threw a flag, ruling that Chancellor had led with his helmet when sacking McCoy, drawing a 15-yard penalty and an automatic first down even though Chancellor's helmet never made direct contact with McCoy's back.
The Browns gained six yards on the following three plays before Seahawks defensive end Red Bryant blocked a 48-yard field goal attempt by Browns kicker Phil Dawson to keep the game scoreless early in the second quarter.
Chancellor was credited with a quarterback sack, his first of the season and second in his career.
Bryant was fined $15,000 for his head-butt on Browns tight end Alex Smith in the fourth quarter.

Lions Claim S Chris Harris Off Waivers
The Detroit Lions claimed veteran safety Chris Harris off waivers, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Harris was waived by the Chicago Bears on Thursday.
A 2005 sixth-round pick out of Louisiana-Monroe by the Bears, Harris was traded to the Carolina Panthers in 2007 and back to the Bears in April of 2010. In 88 career games, Harris has 416 tackles, one quarterback sack, 15 interceptions, 30 passes defensed and 12 forced fumbles.
Last season, Harris started 16 games and had a career-high five interceptions. Harris missed three games with a hamstring injury earlier this season and, upon his return, was benched along with fellow veteran Brandon Meriweather. Harris requested a trade, which didn't occur before the deadline, and was a healthy scratch in Week 6. Injuries placed him back in the starting lineup in last Sunday's win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in London.
Harris is in the final year of his contract and the Lions are on the hook for the remaining $644,118 in base salary this season.
The Lions lost veteran safety Erik Coleman to a season-ending ankle injury. His replacement, Vincent Fuller, has been sidelined the last two weeks with an elbow injury and is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos.

Seahawks DE Red Bryant Fined $15,000
Seattle Seahawks defensive end Red Bryant was fined $15,000 after he was disqualified for head-butting Cleveland Browns tight end Alex Smith during the fourth quarter of the Browns' 6-3 win on Sunday, Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network reports.
Bryant's penalty came after the Seahawks had stopped Browns running back Montario Hardesty for no gain on a 3rd-and-7 play. The disqualification gave the Browns a first down and allowed them to run out the clock with a pair of kneel downs. The penalty also overshadowed a solid performance by Bryant, who had a season-high four tackles, picked up a half a quarterback sack, had a pass defensed and blocked a pair of field goal attempts.
A 2008 fourth-round pick out of Texas A&M, Bryant is earning a $600,000 base salary that is comprised of 17 game checks worth $35,294.

Saints RB Mark Ingram Ruled Out; Chris Ivory To Be Activated Before Sunday
New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton announced that first-round running back Mark Ingram will not play on Sunday against the St. Louis Rams.
Ingram suffered a bruised heel in Sunday night's 62-7 win over the Indianapolis Colts. The 28th overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft leads the Saints with 329 yards and three touchdowns on the ground through seven games.
Payton added that second-year running back Chris Ivory will be activated from the physically unable to perform list. Signed as an undrafted free agent out of Tiffin University, Ivory led the Saints with 716 yards and 5 touchdowns rushing in 2010 before being placed on injured reserve with a foot injury.

Rams Rule QB Sam Bradford Out For Sunday
St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints, head coach Steve Spagnuolo announced, via Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, on Friday.
Bradford, who did not miss a snap during his rookie season in 2010, sprained his left ankle on the final play of the Rams' Week 6 loss to the Green Bay Packers and missed last week's game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Veteran A.J. Feeley will make another start in place of Bradford, with Tom Brandstater as the No. 2 quarterback.
Feeley completed 20-of-33 pass attempts for 196 yards and an interception in last week's 34-7 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

Bengals Add CB Adam Jones To Active Roster
The Cincinnati Bengals have added cornerback Adam Jones to the active roster.
Signed to a two-year deal by the Bengals in 2010, Jones had won the team's No. 3 cornerback role and had 14 tackles and an interception in fives games last season before suffering a herniated disc that required surgery. Jones opened the 2011 season on the physically unable to perform list
A 2005 first-round pick out of West Virginia by the Tennessee Titans, Jones has 160 tackles, one quarterback sack, and five interceptions, including one he returned for a touchdown, during an often tumultuous 44-game career with the Titans (2005-06), Dallas Cowboys (2008) and Bengals (2010). Jones has also averaged 25.2 yards on 77 kick returns and 9.4 yards on 89 punt returns, four of which he's returned for touchdowns.
Due to numerous off-field incidents, Jones was suspended for the 2007 season and traded to the Cowboys in 2008. The Cowboys released Jones after just nine games and he spent the 2009 season out of football.

A 2005 seventh-round pick out of Harvard by the St. Louis Rams, Fitzpatrick backed up Marc Bulger for two seasons before he was traded to the Cincinnati Bengals in 2007. Eagles WR DeSean Jackson Optimistic About Contract Extension
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson is optimistic that he'll get a long-term contract extension before the end of the season, Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News reports.
"Sometimes it does get hard, but I think it will work out. After the bye week now, there's a lot more time for things to get done," Jackson said on Thursday.
Jackson has 196 receptions for 3,591 yards and 19 touchdowns during his 51-game career with the Eagles, who used the 49th overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft on the former Cal Bear. Jackson topped 60 receptions in each of his first two season in the league, has over 330 yards and three touchdowns rushing and has averaged nearly 11 yards on 106 punt returns, returning four for touchdowns.
Jackson caught just 47 balls in 2010, but led the NFL with a 22.5-yard average.
In the final year of his rookie contract, Jackson is earning $600,000 in base salary this season. If the Eagles are unable to sign Jackson to a long-term extension, they are expected to use the franchise tag on Jackson in February.
The franchise tag for wide receivers in 2012 is projected to be around $9.3 million.

Patriots Waive CB Leigh Bodden
The New England Patriots have released cornerback Leigh Bodden, Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com reports.
Bodden signed a one-year deal with the Patriots in 2009, starting 14 of 15 games and leading the team with 19 passes defensed and tying for the team lead with five interceptions. Bodden's performance led to a four-year, $22.03 million extension in 2010. Bodden spent 2010 on injured reserve with a shoulder injury. In five games, and one start, in 2011, Bodden has 17 tackles and four passes defensed.
Signed by the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent out of Duquesne in 2003, the 6-foot-1, 193-pound cornerback has 362 tackles and 18 interceptions during his 95-game career with the Browns (2003-07), Detroit Lions (2008) and Patriots.
Because the trade deadline has passed, Bodden will be exposed to waivers. Any team that claims his contract will be on the hook for the $2.294 million in base salary that remains in 2010. Bodden would be entitled to that amount in termination pay from the Patriots should no team claim him.
Bodden is scheduled to earn $3.9 million in base salary in each of the next two seasons.

Hasselbeck Says Thumb Won't Be An Issue
After injuring his right thumb during Sunday's loss to the Houston Texans, Tennessee Titans quarterback Matt Hasselbeck wore a glove and was limited in practice on Wednesday.
Hasselbeck ditched the glove and participated fully on Thursday, Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean reports.
"They kind of gave me the day off (Wednesday) just so I wouldn’t take a bunch of snaps and pound it, but I didn’t want them to give me the day off," Hasselbeck said..."But when you are as old as I am, 36, they give you a day off when you sneeze too much."
Hasselbeck got off to a hot start on the season, but has cooled off the last two weeks, completing just 54.4 percent of his last 79 pass attempts for 366 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions as the Titans have lost back-to-back games to even their record at 3-3 heading into Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts.
The Colts rank 30th in total defense and are 23rd against the pass and 31st in average yards per pass play.
