To fill the open spot on their 53-man roster, the Philadelphia Eagles have promoted wide receiver Ronald Johnson from the practice squad.
A 2011 sixth-round pick out of USC by the San Francisco 49ers, the 5-foot-11, 199-pound Johnson caught one pass for eight yards and had a 23-yard punt return for the 49ers during the preseason, but was waived at the end of training camp. Johnson has been on the Eagles' practice squad since the start of the season.
The Eagles had an open spot on their roster after placing safety Kurt Coleman on injured reserve earlier this week.
