Chiefs Place RB Jackie Battle On Injured Reserve

Kansas City Chiefs running back Jackie Battle has been placed on injured reserve with a foot injury, the team announced on Saturday night.

With Pro Bowl running back Jamaal Charles on injured reserve since Week 3, Battle has emerged as the Chiefs' leading rushing with 597 yards and two touchdowns. Battle had been ruled "Out" for tomorrow's game against the Denver Broncos and is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent in the offseason.

To replace Battle, the Chiefs have promoted running back Shaun Draughn from the practice squad.

In other Chiefs news, inside linebacker Brandon Siler has been signed to a one-year extension, David Canter, Siler's agent, announced on Twitter.

A 2007 seventh-round pick out of Florida by the San Diego Chargers, the 6-foot-2, 239-pound Siler totaled 161 tackles, three quarterback sacks and two interceptions in 58 games over the previous four seasons, but spent 2011 on injured reserve after tearing his Achilles' tendon during training camp.
