The St. Louis Rams announced that they have placed wide receiver Mark Clayton on injured reserve with a knee injury.
Clayton opened the 2011 season on the physically unable to perform with a knee injury he sustained during the 2010 season. Activated to the 53-man roster two weeks ago, Clayton caught three passes for 26 yards in last week's loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
Wide receiver Nick Miller has been re-signed to replace Clayton on the 53-man roster. Miller was with the Rams for a few weeks earlier this season, but did not appear in any games. In 11 career games, all with the Oakland Raiders over the 2010 and 2011 seasons, Miller has three receptions for 40 yards, a 16.3-yard kick return average and 7.5 yard average on 37 punt returns, a role he could fill with the Rams.
