Giants Re-Sign CB Will Blackmon; Place Michael Coe On IR

The New York Giants announced that they have signed cornerback Will Blackmon and placed cornerback Michael Coe on injured reserve.

Coe suffered a shoulder injury during Sunday night's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. In 10 games in 2011, Coe had six tackles on special teams and will become the fifth Giants cornerback to land on injured reserve this season.

A 2006 fourth-round pick out of Boston College by the Green Bay Packers, Blackmon has been limited to just 37 games over the last five seasons. When healthy, Blackmon has been a dangerous return specialist, averaging 10 yards on 61 punt returns, including three returns for a touchdown early in his career.

Blackmon was with the Giants last season, totaling two tackles in five games before landing on injured reserve with a knee injury. Unsigned after the lockout, Blackmon had a workout for the Giants on October 17.
