The Washington Redskins have claimed running back Tashard Choice off waivers from the Dallas Cowboys, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Choice had been "Waived/Injured" after being listed as "Questionable" with shoulder and hamstring injuries on the Cowboys' final injury report of Week 8. Choice had fallen behind rookies DeMarco Murray and Phillip Tanner on Dallas' running back depth chart, which is topped by 2008 second-round pick Felix Jones.
The Redskins have just two running backs -- Ryan Torain, Roy Helu -- on their 53-man roster after losing Tim Hightower to a season-ending knee injury.
A 2008 fourth-round pick out of Georgia Tech, Choice has rushed for 1,139 yards on 250 rushing attempts over the last 54 games, with eight touchdowns. The 5-foot-10, 218-pound running back has added 64 receptions for 497 yards out of the backfield.
Choice is due $317,647 in base salary for the remaining nine weeks of the regular season. The Redskins host the Cowboys on November 20.
