The Baltimore Ravens announced that cornerback Domonique Foxworth has been placed on injured reserve.
Foxworth tore the ACL in right knee during last year's training camp, an injury that he is still recovering from. Though he was active for the first two games of the season, he was not pleased with his own performance and was deactivated for Sunday's 37-7 win over the St. Louis Rams.
Signed to a four-year, $27.2 million contract in 2009, the former Maryland standout had 53 tackles, four interceptions and 16 passes defensed his first season with the Ravens. After what will be most of the last two seasons on injured reserve, Foxworth will likely have to reduce his $5.6 million base salary to return in 2012.
Veteran linebacker Prescott Burgess is expected to replace Foxworth on the 53-man roster.
