$18M Fully Guaranteed For Ahtyba Rubin

On Sunday, Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Ahtyba Rubin agreed to terms on a three-year, $26.5 million extension, locking up the 2008 sixth-round pick out of Iowa State through the 2014 season.

Rubin was scheduled to earn $600,000 in base salary this season. That salary remains and, according to a league source, is now fully guaranteed. With his $5.5 million signing bonus, Rubin's first-year haul is $6.1 million.

Next season, Rubin will earn $7.7 million in fully guaranteed base salary and a $300,000 workout bonus. In 2013, Rubin has a $200,000 workout bonus and will earn $6 million in base salary, $4.2 million of which is also fully guaranteed. The amounts that are fully guaranteed totals $18 million.

Rubin will earn $6.6 million in base salary and a $200,000 workout bonus in 2014.

After recording 49 tackles in 27 games over his first two seasons in the league, Rubin started 16 games and posted 82 tackles, two quarterback sacks and an interception in 2010. The Browns have shifted to a 4-3 defense under coordinator Dick Jauron, with Rubin moving from nose tackle to the "3" technique, where he's expected to bolster the team's pass rush up the middle.
