Bengals OT Andrew Whitworth Agrees To Two-Year Extension

Cincinnati Bengals left tackle Andrew Whitworth has signed a two-year contract extension, Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Andrew Brandt of the National Football Post reports the two years contains $20 million in new money.

A second-round pick out of LSU by the Bengals in 2006, Whitworth has started 70 of his 74 games, including a streak of 32 consecutive starts. Whitworth had three years and nearly $11 million remaining on his current contract, which he signed prior to the 2008 season, and is now under contract through the 2015 season.

"You want to extend the guys who you know are committed to the program," said Whitworth, who also serves at the Bengals' player rep. "It’s good to see the hard work you put in and to be able to get it to work for both sides."
