Jets Agree to Terms With 1st Round CB Kyle Wilson

Multiple news outlets are reporting that the New York Jets have agreed to terms with first-round cornerback Kyle Wilson.

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports the deal is worth $13 million dollars (max) and included more than $7 million in guarantees.

Wilson started his final 45 games at Boise State, recording 160 tackles and a pair of quarterback sacks, along with 38 total passes defensed, including 11 interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns.

Wilson also averaged 12.6 yards on 63 punt returns with three touchdowns.

A three-time All-WAC selection (first-team in 2008, 2009), Wilson was a second-team All-American following his senior season.

The 5-10, 194-pound Wilson was unable to do a full workout at the Combine, but posted 25 reps on the 225-pound bench press, the most among cornerbacks. At his pro day in Boise, Wilson ran a 4.43-40 with a 38" vertical leap and 10'02", demonstrating his superb athleticism.

Wilson is a physical corner, unafraid to stick his nose in on run support, and has a willingness and ability to deliver the big hit on an opposing ball-carrier. Wilson is also adept at man coverage, and has excellent closing speed to make plays on the ball.

Wilson will likely begin his career as the nickel corner on the Jets' defense, and should be in the mix at punt returner, as well.

Titans Agree to Terms With 1st Round DE Derrick Morgan

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Tennessee Titans have reached agreement on a five-year contract with first-round defensive end Derrick Morgan.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

During his three seasons at Georgia Tech, Morgan totaled 115 tackles, including 29.5 for a loss and 19.5 quarterback sacks. Morgan added six fumble recoveries and five passes defensed during his college career.

An honorable mention All-ACC selection as a sophomore, Morgan earned first-team honors in 2009, and was named the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year after his 12 ½ quarterback sack season.

The 6-3, 266-pound Morgan has been slowed by hamstring and calf injuries during the OTAs, but is expected to make an immediate contribution as a pass-rusher for the Titans this season.

Giants Sign 1st Round DE Jason Pierre-Paul

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the New York Giants have signed first-round defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul.

According to Schefter, the deal is worth $20.05 million dollars, with $11.629M guaranteed.

The 6-5, 270-pound defensive end from South Florida opted to forgo his senior season to enter the 2010 NFL Draft after posting 45 tackles, including 16.5 for a loss and 6.5 quarterback sacks. Pierre-Paul added an interception, which he returned for a touchdown, and earned first-team All-Big East honors in his one season with the Bulls.

Pierre-Paul is very raw, and may need time to develop, but could see time as a situational pass-rusher as a rookie.

With Pierre-Paul under contract, the Giants will have all hands on deck when they report to Albany on Sunday.

Eagles Sign LB Tracy White

The Philadelphia Eagles have re-signed linebacker Tracy White to a one-year deal, Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Running back Martell Mallet was released.

The decision to re-sign White, who spent the previous two seasons in Philadelphia, comes a day after the Eagles traded reserve/special teams linebacker Joe Mays to the Denver Broncos in exchange for running back J.J. Arrington, who passed his physical with the Eagles this afternoon.

White, who began his NFL career in 2003 with the Seattle Seahawks, had 35 tackles and his first career interception for the Eagles last season. White led the Eagles in special teams tackles with 17, and recovered a fumble.

In 94 games during his seven-year career, which has also included stints with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2005) and Green Bay Packers (2006-07), the former undrafted free agent from Howard University has 122 tackles and a quarterback sack.

Pete Carroll Comments on First Day of Camp

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll did not address the media after the team's first practice of 2010 training camp. Carroll did, however, set up a video camera is in his office at the VMAC and shared his thoughts on the first day of camp.

From the sounds of it, it won't be his last YouTube update.

Broncos, Demaryius Thomas Agree to Terms

Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network reports the Denver Broncos have agreed to terms with first-round wide receiver Demaryius Thomas.

Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post reports the deal is worth $12.155 million, with a maximum value of $15.5 million.

A three-year starter at Georgia Tech, the 6-3, 224-pound Thomas caught 120 passes for 2,339 yards and 15 touchdowns during his career. Thomas’ 25.1-yards per catch average last season were an ACC record, helping Thomas earn first-team All-ACC honors after the season.

Despite coming off a broken foot, Thomas was regarded as the top receiver in the 2010 NFL Draft, even ahead of the more ballyhooed Dez Bryant. Bryant is a big, strong receiver with outstanding hands, though there are questions about his speed and route-running ability.

Thomas likely needs time to refine his game, though he’ll likely be successful in a Josh McDaniels’ offense that uses a lot of quick screens. Thomas is projected to start opposite Eddie Royal, and along with 2010 third-round pick Eric Decker, give Broncos quarterbacks a couple of big targets to throw to after the trade of Brandon Marshall

Seahawks Claim Long-Snapper

During an appearance on the Brock and Salk show on 710 ESPN Seattle, Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider says the team has claimed a long-snapper off waivers.

The only long-snapper on waivers right now is Clint Gresham, who was waived by the New Orleans Saints on Friday.

A 6-3, 236-pounder from TCU, Gresham made eight special teams tackles over three seasons, and was the only long-snapper to score an invite to the 2010 Scouting Combine.

Matt Overton is the only other long-snapper on the Seahawks' roster. A corresponding transaction will be required to add Gresham to the 80-man roster.

Eagles WR DeSean Jackson Injured During Practice

Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Philadelphia Eagles Pro Bowl wide receiver DeSean Jackson appeared to injure his back during today's practice.

According to McLane, Jackson's injury occurred during a 7-on-7 drill, where he appeared to have to bend awkwardly to catch a pass from starting quarterback Kevin Kolb. After being carted off the field, Jackson appeared to be favoring his right leg as he made his way to the team's training room.

Eagles head coach Andy Reid is expected to update the situation later today.

Giants Sign S John Busing

The New York Giants have signed free agent safety John Busing, David Canter, Busing's agent, announced on Twitter.

Signed as an undrafted free agent out of Miami (Ohio) by the Cincinnati Bengals, the 6-2, 218-pound Busing spent the first three seasons of his NFL career with the Bengals. Busing totaled 25 tackles in 27 games, 19 of which came as a core member of the Bengals' kick and punt coverage units.

Last season, Busing started four of 16 games with the Houston Texans, setting career-highs with 32 tackles and snagging the first interception of his NFL career.

Busing adds quality depth to the back-end of the Giants' secondary, which will be without third-round pick Chad Jones (IR) for the season, and without Kenny Phillips (knee) for the start of training camp.

Colts Sign 3rd Round CB Kevin Thomas

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Indianapolis Colts have signed third-round cornerback Kevin Thomas.

The Colts also officially announced the signing of second-round linebacker Pat Angerer, who as first reported by the National Football Post, agreed to a four-year, $3.14 million dollar contract earlier this week.

Thomas appeared in 39 games during his career at USC, becoming a full-time starter during the 2009 season, after which he was named honorable mention All Pac-10. During his career, Thomas had 89 tackles, including 4.5 for a loss and three quarterback sacks. Thomas added 3 interceptions and 21 passes defensed.

Injuries hampered Thomas throughout his college career, with Thomas missing portions of his freshman and sophomore seasons to mononucleosis, a sprained right ankle, and a broken foot. Thomas missed the entire 2007 season after having surgery on his left shoulder.

Unfortunately, Thomas tore an ACL during the final day of the Colts’ post-draft rookie mini-camp and will spend his rookie season on injured reserve.

Penn Wasn't Planning Lengthy Holdout

With the ink still drying on his six-year, $43 million dollar contract extension, Tampa Bay Buccaneers left tackle Donald Penn says he wasn't planning a lengthy holdout this summer.

"If it hadn’t come through I wasn’t going to hold out that long," Penn said on Saturday, according to Roy Cummings of the Tampa Tribune. "I mean, I had to get into football shape.

"And I got a lot of pride. I didn’t want to come in and be behind and then it takes me two or three games to get adjusted. I talk too much trash to let that happen, so I have to be able to back it up."

Penn's contract reportedly contains $20 million dollars in guaranteed money.

Vikings WR Percy Harvin Leaves Practice With Injury

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin, the reigning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, exited the practice field on a cart during this morning's practice, Judd Zulgad of the Star Tribune reports.

Harvin's injury was not disclosed, and Zulgad adds that no one saw what happened to him.

For more from Zulgad on the Vikings' morning practice, including Toby Gerhart's first action, click here.

Browns, Joe Haden Agree to Terms

Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network reports the Cleveland Browns and first-round cornerback Joe Haden have agreed to terms on a five-year contract.

La Canfora reports the deal has a maximum value of $50 million dollars, and includes $26 million in guarantees.

A starter for his entire three-year career at the University of Florida, the 5-11, 193-pound Haden totaled 218 tackles and 3.5 quarterback sacks in 40 games. Among the 42 passes Haden broke up during his career, eight were interceptions, which he returned for 166 yards combined.

Haden was a unanimous first-team All-American selection after last season, twice earned All-SEC honors (second-team in '08, first-team in '09), and was a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award.

One of the most impressive cornerbacks in the 2010 NFL Draft, questions swirled about Haden's speed, which had some wondering if he were worth a Top 10 pick. Haden ran a 4.53-40 at the Combine, but silenced doubters when he ran a 4.43-40 during his pro day on March 17.

The Browns traded for veteran Sheldon Brown this off-season, but Haden will push him for a starting job opposite Eric Wright this summer.

Giants Agree to Terms With 2nd Round DT Linval Joseph

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the New York Giants have agreed to terms with second-round defensive tackle Linval Joseph.

Financial terms on the four-year deal were not disclosed.

A two-year starter at East Carolina, Joseph totaled 143 tackles, including 29.5 for a loss and 6.5 quarterback sacks. Joseph added three forced fumbles/fumble recoveries, and blocked three kicks during his career.

Joseph earned first-team All-Conference USA honors after the 2009 season, and opted to forgo his final season of eligibility.

Solid enough to hold up against double-teams, and agile enough to be a penetrating “3” technique tackle, the 6-5, 328-pound Joseph provides the Giants with a versatile interior defensive lineman. Joseph is projected to be part of the tackle rotation as a rookie, and to contend for a starting role in 2011.

Seahawks LB David Hawthorne Signs ERFA Tender

ESPN's Mike Sando reports that Seattle Seahawks linebacker David Hawthorne is on the field warming up before the team's first practice of training camp, which means that Hawthorne has signed his "Exclusive Rights Free Agent" tender.

Hawthorne had signed an injury waiver that allowed him to participate in the OTAs and mini-camps.

Signed by the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of TCU in 2008, Hawthorne was a core member of the special teams in 2008 before starting 11 of 16 games at middle linebacker for an injured Lofa Tatupu. Hawthorne led the Seahawks in tackles with 116, including four quarterback sacks, and tied for the team lead with 3 interceptions.

Hawthorne spent a portion of the off-season workouts at outside linebacker, and could start in the regular season opener when troubled linebacker Leroy Hill is suspended.

There was no need to make a roster move for Hawthorne, as wide receiver Sean Morey retired this morning.

Browns RB Montario Hardesty May Miss A Couple of Weeks

Cleveland Browns head coach Eric Mangini announced that second round running back Montario Hardesty twisted his knee and may miss a couple of weeks.

During his college career, Hardesty tore his ACL as a freshman, and has undergone three procedures on his knee. That injury, as well as other leg and ankle injuries, prevented Hardesty from becoming a starter at the University of Tennessee until his senior season.

Mangini said the latest injury is unrelated to his knee issues in college.

Hardesty, who signed a four-year, $3.372 million dollar contract last week, was expected to push Jerome Harrison for carries this summer.

Seahawks WR Sean Morey Announces Retirement

As the Seattle Seahawks prepare to open training camp today, wide receiver Sean Morey has announced his retirement.

Morey, 34, signed a three-year deal with the Seahawks on March 29.

A seventh-round pick (241st overall) out of Brown University by the New England Patriots in 1999, Morey spent much of his first four seasons on either the Patriots' practice squad or as a street free agent. Morey finally caught on with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2003, appearing in 16 games for the Eagles that season.

While Morey did not have a single pass thrown his way, he showed an aptitude for special teams, posting 7 special teams tackles and averaging 13.3 yards per kick return. Morey spent the next three seasons as a core member of the Pittsburgh Steelers' special teams units, earning a Super Bowl ring (Super Bowl XL) and posting 42 special teams tackles, including a team-high 16 during the 2006 season.

In 2007, Morey signed a three-year, $2.7 million dollar contract with the Arizona Cardinals. Morey set career-highs in receiving that season, catching 8 passes for 131 yards, including two for 23 yards in a Week 2 win over the Seahawks.

During his three seasons with the Cardinals, Morey continued to excel on special teams, adding 43 tackles and a blocked punt in 2008. Morey was named the Cardinals' special teams captains during both the 2008 and 2009 seasons, and made his first trip to the Pro Bowl following the '08 season.

The 34-year old Marshfield, Massachusetts native has 11 receptions for 168 yards during his 8-year career, with 94 tackles.

Morey has battled concussions during his career, and was named co-chair of the NFL Players Association concussion and traumatic brain injury committee last October.

Last month, Morey told the New York Times that he was "rattled" by the news that the late Chris Henry had chronic traumatic encephalopathy, a form of degenerative brain damage, at the time of his death.

"It's very emotional to hear--it rattles me," said Morey. "The fact that this has been found (in) guys (you) played against last year, an active player, I think it's sobering. You have to ask yourself how many are playing the game today that have this and don't even know about it.

"We have to educate the players," Morey said. "The players have to have the ability to have informed consent."

Hopefully Morey will continue his efforts to educate the players on this very important issue.

Buccaneers Sign Donald Penn to $43M Contract

Rick Stroud of the St. Petersburg Times reports the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed restricted free agent left tackle Donald Penn to a six-year, $43 million dollar contract extension.

How much of that $43 million is guaranteed remains unknown, but the contract appears to be identical in length and total value to the contract signed by Tennessee Titans offensive tackle Michael Roos in 2008.

Roos' contract contained $15 million in guarantees, and $20.5 million dollars was paid out over the all-important first three years of the deal.

An undrafted free agent out of Utah State, Penn (6-5, 305) has started 44 straight games at left tackle for the Buccaneers, who signed him off the Minnesota Vikings' practice squad in 2006. Had Penn played out the season under the one-year restricted free agent tender, he would have earned $3.071 million in base salary.

The Buccaneers will need to make two roster moves to accommodate the signings.

Miles Austin Works on Special Teams

A day after losing first-round wide receiver Dez Bryant for four-to-six weeks with a high ankle sprain, Todd Archer of the Dallas Morning News reports that Dallas Cowboys Pro Bowl wide receiver Miles Austin was on the field Saturday morning for special teams drills.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told ESPN's Chris Mortensen that he wasn't entirely happy with the heavy workload that Bryant had before his injury.

Prior to his breakout season in 2009, Austin was a key contributor on special teams, serving as the team's primary kick-returned from 2006-08. Austin began last season in that role, and overall, has averaged 24.1 yards on 89 returns.

It's unlikely that Austin will be used in that role again, or that he'll work as heavily on special teams as Bryant had in his first few days in the NFL, but the site of Austin doing additional work so soon after Bryant's injury is enough to raise a few eyebrows.

Buccaneers Agree to Terms With 1st Round DT Gerald McCoy

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and first-round defensive tackle Gerald McCoy have agreed to terms on a five-year contract, Stephen Holder of the St. Petersburg Times reports.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

McCoy started 40 games at Oklahoma, playing the “3” technique defensive tackle position, where he used his quickness and athleticism to be a disruptive force in the opponents’ backfield. Frequently double-teamed, McCoy posted 83 tackles, including 33 for loss and 14.5 quarterback sacks, with four pass deflections and an interception.

The 6-4, 295-pound McCoy was a three-time All-Big 12 selection (first-team in 2008, 2009) and was named that conference’s Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore. McCoy was a two-time All-American, as well.

With his size, strength, and athleticism, McCoy was viewed by some draft analysts to be a better prospect than Ndamukong Suh, who was chosen one spot ahead of McCoy in the 2010 NFL Draft.

Likened to Buccaneers legend Warren Sapp, McCoy will start next to 2010 second-round pick Brian Price at defensive tackle this season, two major cogs as the Buccaneers' rebuild a run defense that ranked 32nd in the NFL last season.

Patriots WR David Patten Announces Retirement

New England Patriots wide receiver David Patten announced his retirement from professional football on Saturday.

Patten, 35, played for the Patriots from 2001-04, catching 165 passes for 2,513 yards and 16 touchdowns. Patten added 15 receptions for 174 yards and two touchdowns during the post-season, and scored a touchdown in New England's 20-17 win over the St. Louis Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI.

An undrafted free agent out of Western Carolina, Patten has played for the New York Giants (1997-99), Cleveland Browns (2000), Washington Redskins (2005-06), and most recently, was with the New Orleans Saints from 2006-08 before being cut last February.

For his career, Patten has 324 receptions, 4,715 yards, and 24 touchdowns. He's also scored touchdowns as a runner, a kick returner, and threw a 60-yard touchdown pass to Troy Brown in a 2001 game win over the Indianapolis Colts.

Chiefs Sign WR Verran Tucker

The Kansas City Chiefs announced the signing of undrafted rookie free agent wide receiver Verran Tucker.

Tucker (6-2, 194) played his college ball at Cal, and was released last week by the Dallas Cowboys, who signed him as an undrafted free agent during the off-season.

To make room for Tucker, the Chiefs have waived David Grimes, a first-year player who played for Chiefs offensive coordinator Charlie Weis at Notre Dame. Grimes (5-10, 177) entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Denver Broncos, but was waived prior to last year's training camp.

The Chiefs had signed Grimes to a one-year contract in May, but he was fairly buried on the team's depth chart.

Pat White Arrives at Dolphins Training Camp

A day after rampant speculation that he'd miss all of training camp, and perhaps the entire regular season, Miami Dolphins second-year quarterback Pat White is not only attending, but participating in today's training camp practice, Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post reports.

More details to come later.

Eagles Sign WR Kelley Washington (Updated)

Adam Caplan of FOXSports.com reports the Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to terms with veteran wide receiver Kelley Washington on a one-year deal.

Washington has officially been signed, and undrafted wide receiver Jared Perry, who worked out along with Washington and was signed on Thursday, has been released.

A third-round pick in the 2003 NFL Draft out of Tennessee by the Cincinnati Bengals, Washington has caught 107 passes for 1,327 yards and 11 touchdowns during his NFL career. Washington established career-highs with 34 receptions for 431 yards with the Baltimore Ravens in 2009.

Washington also spent two seasons (2007-08) with the New England Patriots, where he was a dynamic player on special teams, totaling 25 tackles, recovered a fumble and blocked a punt.

Jaguars, Alualu Making Progress

The Jacksonville Jaguars and first-round defensive tackle Tyson Alualu are making progress on a contract, the Florida Times-Union reports.
"The Jaguars have made a five-year proposal to agent Kenny Zuckerman, who is preparing a counteroffer. The two sides are hopeful they can strike a deal shortly."
In 2008, defensive end Derrick Harvey missed 33 days of training camp, and last season, left tackle Eugene Monroe missed nearly two weeks.

The Jaguars had their first on-field practice on Friday.

Alualu is expected to start next to 2009 third-round pick Terrance Knighton this season in the "3" technique position on a revamped defensive line that saw the departure of longtime stalwart John Henderson, and the arrival of veteran end Aaron Kampman.

Haynesworth Does Not Take Conditioning Test

Washington Redskins defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth did not take the team's conditioning test this morning, reports Rich Campbell of the Free Lance-Star.

Haynesworth failed the test, which consists of two sets of 300-yard shuttles, on Thursday and Friday, and head coach Mike Shanahan has stated that until Haynesworth passes the test, he will not be able to practice with the team.

Reports out of Ashburn on Friday were that Haynesworth failed the first 300-yard shuttle run on Friday by one second.

As unsympathetic a figure as Haynesworth is, you can bet that the NFLPA and Shanahan's locker room are paying close attention to how the head coach is pouring lighter fluid on a fire that Haynesworth and defensive coordinator Jim Haslett were seeking to stamp out.

Dolphins QB Pat White to Miss Training Camp

Mike Berardino of the Sun-Sentinel reports that Miami Dolphins second-year quarterback Pat White will miss training camp, and could miss the entire regular season, with a serious non-football related issue.

"I couldn't tell you what day he's going to be out there or when he's going to be back on the field," White's brother, Bo White Jr., tells Berardino. "Being a young man, he's just trying to find – I'm trying to put this in the best way -- I guess his position in life. I think that may have something to do with it. Just life, you know, in general.

"He's happy with where he is," White's brother said. "It's just life. He's just dealing with life right now."

White's brother says the issue is unrelated to the concussions he's sustained in recent seasons, college and pro. Against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2009 regular season finale, White sustained a blow to the head that required an overnight stay in a hospital.

White is likely headed for a reserve list of some kind, though whether or not it's one that provides the Dolphins with a roster exemption.

Rams Sign 1st Round QB Sam Bradford

Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com reports the St. Louis Rams have signed first overall pick Sam Bradford to a six-year contract.

According to multiple reports, Bradford's contract has a base value of $78 million dollars, and tops out at $86 million dollars. $50 million dollars is guaranteed.

Bradford started 31 games at Oklahoma, completing a school-record 67.6% of his 893 pass attempts for 8,403 yards and 88 touchdowns, also tops in Sooners’ history. Bradford won the Heisman Trophy in 2008, but opted to remain in school for the 2009 season.

Bradford injured his right shoulder in the season-opener, and missed three starts while rehabilitating his injury. After passing for 389 yards and a touchdown in his first game back, Bradford re-injured his shoulder the following week against Texas, ending his season and college career.

The red-shirt junior announced that he would have season-ending surgery and that he would forgo his final season of eligibility and enter the 2010 NFL Draft.

With questions about his durability and arm strength following shoulder surgery, Bradford measured in at the Combine at 6-4 and 236 pounds, up nearly 15 pounds from his playing weight in college. Bradford did not do on-field workouts at the Combine, but held a public workout for NFL talent evaluators on March 30, and worked out privately for NFL teams before the draft, where he answered any questions teams had about his arm strength.

Though veteran A.J. Feeley is listed as the top quarterback of the Rams’ depth chart, Bradford will get every opportunity to earn the starting job this summer, and it would be surprising if Bradford is not in the starting lineup by mid-season

Broncos Trade J.J. Arrington to the Eagles

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Denver Broncos have traded veteran running back J.J. Arrington to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for linebacker Joe Mays.

A second-round pick out of Cal by the Arizona Cardinals in 2005, Arrington has 183 carries for 654 yards and 3 touchdowns, and 91 receptions for 693 yards and a pair of touchdowns during his four-year career. Arrington signed a four-year, $10 million dollar contract with the Broncos in 2009, but knee injuries limited him during the off-season program, and he was subsequently released and spent the '09 season getting his knee right.

The Broncos re-signed Arrington on March 4, 2010. If Arrington gets cut before the 2010 season, the Eagles will receive a conditional draft choice in 2012 instead.

The 5-11, 246-pound Mays is a sixth-round pick (200th overall) out of North Dakota State in 2008. Mays has 18 tackles in 13 games for the Eagles, with most of his production coming on special teams.

Mays was currently the Eagles' third-string middle linebacker, and at the very least provides the Broncos with a core special teams player, and possibly some depth at inside linebacker.

Titans 3rd Round WR Damian Williams Agrees to Terms

Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean reports that Tennessee Titans third-round wide receiver Damian Williams has agreed to terms on a contract.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

After beginning his college career at Arkansas, Williams opted to transfer to USC following the 2006. Required to sit out the 2007 season, Williams made his debut for the Trojans in 2008, catching 58 passes for 869 yards and 9 touchdowns.

In 2009, Williams caught 70 passes for 1,010 yards and six touchdowns, and averaged 14.2 yards per punt return with two scores, earning first-team All Pac-10 honors as both a receiver and a punt returner.

Williams will compete with 2009 first-round pick Kenny Britt for playing time in 3-WR sets, and will be looked at as a return specialist, as well.

Titans' rookies and veterans are scheduled to report to training camp on Saturday. With Williams in the fold, first-round defensive end Derrick Morgan is the Titans' lone unsigned pick from the 2010 draft.

Rams' Offer to Bradford Exceeds $72M

Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the St. Louis Rams have a six-year contract offer to first overall pick Sam Bradford that exceeds $72 million dollars, but is under $80 million dollars in total value.

The two sides are still negotiating, Thomas adds, and the Rams hope that Bradford will be with the team when they conduct their first on-field practice of the 2010 training camp at 3pm on Saturday.

How much of that $72-80 million dollar offer was guaranteed was not mentioned in Thomas' report, which indicates that may be the sticking point in negotiations. Bradford's agent, Tom Condon of CAA, is reportedly seeking between $45 and $50 million dollars in guarantees as part of his rookie contract.

Cowboys' WR Dez Bryant to Miss 4-to-6 Weeks

Dallas Cowboys first-round wide receiver Dez Bryant will miss 4-to-6 weeks with a high right ankle sprain, ESPN's Chris Mortensen quotes Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones as saying.

The 24th overall pick of the 2010 NFL Draft was injured when he got tangled up with veteran cornerback Orlando Scandrick on a pass during Friday's practice.

Bryant's timetable for recovery has him returning in time for the regular season, bu missing most of his final season at Oklahoma State after being ruled ineligible for lying to NCAA investigators, missing an entire pre-season could be a big blow to how much an impact Bryant will have during his rookie season.

That said, Michael Crabtree held out until October, and he caught 48 passes for 625 yards and a pair of touchdowns with Alex Smith at quarterback.

Jets Sign WR Laveranues Coles

As expected, the New York Jets signed veteran free agent wide receiver Laveranues Coles to a one-year contract.

This will Coles' third stint with the Jets, who chose him in the third-round (78th overall) of the 2000 NFL Draft out of Florida State. Coles has caught 459 passes for 5,941 yards and 37 touchdowns in seven seasons with the Jets, ranking in the Top 5 in franchise history in each major receiving category.

Overall, Coles has 674 receptions for 8,609 yards and 49 touchdowns during his 10-year career, which included two seasons, one Pro Bowl, with the Washington Redskins (2003-04) and last season with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Buccaneers Reach Long-Term Deal With Donald Penn

Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network reports the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and restricted free agent left tackle Donald Penn have agreed to parameters on a long-term contract.

La Canfora add that Penn and his agent, Rocky Arceneaux, are flying to Tampa to sign Penn's tender and long-term contract on Saturday.

Buccaneers rookies and veterans reported to training camp today.

An undrafted free agent out of Utah State, Penn (6-5, 305) has started 44 straight games at left tackle for the Buccaneers, who signed him off the Minnesota Vikings' practice squad in 2006.

Penn's restricted free agent was worth $3.168 million dollars in non-guaranteed base salary.

Lions Agree to Terms With 1st Round Jahvid Best

The Detroit Lions have agreed to terms with first-round running back Jahvid Best, Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com reports.

Florio reports the five-year deal is worth $9.8 million dollars.

The 5-10, 199-pound Best ran for 2,668 yards and 29 touchdowns during his three seasons at Cal, adding 62 receptions for 533 yards and 5 touchdowns as a receiver out of the backfield.

Best also excelled in the return game, averaging 26.4 yards on 32 kick returns.

Best battled hip, foot, and elbow injuries during his college career, which ended after he sustained a concussion against Oregon State, causing him to miss the final five games the Bears' season, including their bowl game.

At the 2010 Scouting Combine, Best ran a blazing 4.34 in the 40-yard dash, solidfying his status as a late first/early-second round selection. The Lions traded back up in to the first round with NFC North-rival Minnesota to select Best, who is expected to be a multi-purpose threat in Scott Linehan's offense.

With Best signed, the Lions' full attention will turn to signing second overall pick Ndamukong Suh.

Barrett Ruud Supports Donald Penn

Barrett Ruud and Donald Penn were two of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' six restricted free agents this off-season, both tendered at the "First- and Third-Round" level.

While Ruud has signed his non-guaranteed, one-year, $3.268 million dollar tender, Penn has not signed his (which is worth $100K less due to having one fewer accrued season), and is not expected to attend the start of training camp.

Though they've taken different approaches to their contractual situations, Stephen Holder of the St. Petersburg Times reports that Ruud has Penn's back.

"It's all individual," Ruud said. "I fully support Donald. Hopefully things get worked out."

With Demar Dotson and Xavier Fulton the top two left tackles in training camp, you can be Josh Freeman hopes so, too.

Jets, Revis Talking Before Training Camp

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports the New York Jets and All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis are talking before training camp opens next week.

"The parties spoke to each other in the last 24 hours for the first time since before mini-camp to try to find a solution for the All-Pro cornerback’s contract impasse", Mehta reports.

Revis is under contract through 2012, but is only expected to earn $550,000 in 2010. The two-time Pro Bowler is reportedly seeking a contract with a $15 million dollar per year average, and is contemplating a training camp absence if the Jets do not address his contract this summer.

Jets rookies reported to camp on Thursday, and the veterans are expected to report to Cortland, New York, the team's summer home, on Sunday.

Seahawks RB Quinton Ganther's DUI Case Continued

Danny O'Neil of the Seattle Times reports that Seattle Seahawks running back Quinton Ganther's arraignment in a DUI case in Sacramento, California was continued until September 1 earlier this week.

Ganther was arrested on July 3 for suspicion of DUI, and his arraignment hearing was on Wednesday.

Signed to a one-year deal this off-season, Ganther is behind Julius Jones, Justin Forsett, and Leon Washington on Seattle's running back depth chart.

Prior to his arrest, though, Seahawks general manager John Schneider singled out Ganther for his versatility as a running back and fullback, and for his ability and willingness to play special teams. Ganther also has a lengthy relationship with running backs coach Sherman Smith, who coached Ganther during his stints with the Washington Redskins and Tennessee Titans, so depending on how his legal issue shakes out, he'll likely have two advocates in the room when the Seahawks are shaping their 53-man roster.

Steelers 1st Round C Maurkice Pouncey Agrees to Terms

Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com reports that Pittsburgh Steelers and first-round center/guard Maurkice Pouncey have agreed to terms on a contract.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Pouncey was a three-year starter at the University of Florida, splitting his time between right guard and center. The 6-5, 304-pounder is coming off an impressive season, earning first-team All-SEC and second-team All-American honors.

With his quarterback, Tim Tebow, graduating, Pouncey opted to forgo his final season of eligibility and enter the 2010 NFL Draft. Pouncey is expected to start at right guard as a rookie, and is viewed by the team to be the next in the franchise's long line of highly-decorated centers.

Florio adds that Pouncey is en route to Latrobe, having extended the Steelers' streak of "no training camp holdouts" to six years.

Vikings, Toby Gerhart Agree to Terms

The Minnesota Vikings and second-round running back Toby Gerhart have agreed to terms on a four-year contract, Judd Zulgad of the Star Tribune reports.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

In just 38 games, and 26 starts, Gerhart ran for 3,522 yards, ranking second on Stanford’s all-time list. Gerhart’s 44 touchdowns are the most in school history, and his 1,871 yards on the ground in 2009 set the school’s single-season record.

Gerhart was a second-team All-Pac-10 in 2008, and earned first-team all-conference, as well as All-American honors after a 2009 season where the 6-0, 231-pounder was the Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year, the Doak Walker Award (nation’s top RB), and placed second in balloting for the Heisman Trophy.

Gerhart joins a backfield that is headed up by Adrian Peterson, a three-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro who led the NFL in rushing in 2008 and in rushing touchdowns last season. Gerhart is expected to back-up Peterson up, taking some of the short-yardage and goal-line pressure off Peterson.

With Gerhart signed, the Vikings' entire 2010 draft class before training camp officially begins.

Texans Owner Hopes To Sign Andre Johnson to A New Contract Soon

Houston Texans owner Bob McNair tells the Houston Chronicle that he hopes to reach a new contract with Pro Bowl wide receiver Andre Johnson.

"I would hope that we could get it done in a couple of weeks", McNair said.

Since he was chosen with the 3rd overall pick of the 2003 NFL Draft, Johnson has caught 587 passes for 7,948 yards and 42 touchdowns. Johnson is entering the fourth season of an 8-year, $59.75 million dollar contract, which the four-time Pro Bowler feels he's outperformed.

Johnson's 2007 extension included $15 million in guarantees, which has already been paid out. Many NFL observers have been critical of that contrat, which was negotiated by his uncle, Andre Melton.

Since originally voicing his displeasure with his contractual situation, Johnson has hired Kennard McGuire to represent him, and participated in the majority of the team's "Organized Team Activity" sessions.

"I have confidence in (owner Bob McNair). He’s a man of his word," Johnson said on Friday, according to the Chronicle.

Jets Extend Rex Ryan, Mike Tannenbaum's Contracts

While three members of the New York Jets "Core Four" of players seeking contract extensions wait, the Jets announced that head coach Rex Ryan has signed a two-year contract extension, and general manager Mike Tannenbaum has been extended for five seasons.

Ryan signed a four-year, $11.5 million dollar contract with the Jets in January of 2009. The Jets went 9-7 during the regular season, earning a Wild Card spot in the playoffs, where they beat the Cincinnati Bengals and San Diego Chargers before falling 30-17 to the Indianapolis Colts.

Ryan is now signed through the 2014 season.

The 37-year old Tannenbaum has been with the Jets since 1997, and has been the team's general manager since 2006.

In the last four seasons, the Jets are 32-32, and have made two playoff appearances. Talent-wise, Tannenbaum has drafted Mark Sanchez, Darrelle Revis, D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Nick Mangold, and David Harris, and traded for Braylon Edwards, Antonio Cromartie, and Santonio Holmes.

The Jets will be featured on HBO's "Hard Knocks" this summer, and Tannenbaum's high-profile acquisitions, which also includes future Hall of Famers Jason Taylor and LaDainian Tomlinson, figures to be one of the main storylines of an early episode.

Bengals RB Cedric Benson Avoids Suspension

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will not suspended Cincinnati Bengals running back Cedric Benson for his involvement in an incident at an Austin, Texas bar on May 30.

After an investigation by Austin police, Benson was arrested on June 29 and charged with assault after allegedly punching a bar employee in the mouth.

Benson's attorney issued a statement the day of his arrest, claiming that Benson had been assaulted inside the club, and that Benson was acting in what he felt was self-defense.

The statement went on to say that Benson contacted the NFL and the Bengals upon his release from jail on the 29th to appraise them of the situation. Both the NFL and the Bengals have stuck by Benson, and not holding off on announcing any decisions regarding a suspension is a sure sign that they believe Benson will be exonerated.

49ers Sign 1st Round G Mike Iupati

The San Francisco 49ers have signed first-round guard Mike Iupati to a five-year deal, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

After spending his freshman season as a reserve line, Iupati started 33 games at left guard for the University of Idaho. Despite shoulder surgery after his sophomore season, Iupati played well enough to earn second-team All-WAC honors as a junior.

The 6-5, 331-pound Iupati had the attention of NFL scouts entering his senior season, and delivered, earning first-team All-WAC honors, first-team All-American honors, and was a finalist for the Outland Trophy.

Coaches at the Senior Bowl had Iupati work at offensive tackle, but with the 49ers having Joe Staley and fellow 2010 first-round pick Anthony Davis at the position, Iupati will stay at guard.

Iupati will have to earn it, but he is expected to start at left guard as a rookie.

Cardinals Agree to Terms With 2nd Round LB Daryl Washington

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Arizona Cardinals have agreed to terms with second-round linebacker Daryl Washington.

Washington has agreed to a four-year contract, but the financial terms were not disclosed.

A back-up during his first three seasons at TCU, Washington entered the starting lineup in 2009 and lead the Horned Frogs with 109 tackles, including 11 for a loss, with a pair of quarterback sacks and three interceptions.

Washington’s stellar senior season made him a finalist for the Butkus Award, presented annually to the nation’s top linebacker.

The Cardinals allowed Karlos Dansby, a team captain at inside linebacker, to leave via free agency in March. Veterans Clark Haggans and Gerald Hayes are slated to start, but Hayes has a back issue open the door for Washington to get on the field as a rookie.

Chiefs 1st Round S Eric Berry's Deal is Done

Kansas City Chiefs first-round safety Eric Berry announced on Twitter that his deal was done.

"Bout to head to st. Joe!!!," Berry wrote before adding, "Aka the deals done!".

The Chiefs hold their training at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri.

A three-year starter at Tennessee, the 6-0, 205-pound Berry totaled 245 tackles, including 17.5 for a loss and 3 quarterback sacks during his career. Berry also intercepted 14 passes, which he returned for 494 yards and three touchdowns.

Berry was a three-time All-SEC selection (including two first-team nods) and a two-time first-team All-American during his 39-game career as a Vol.

Berry entered the 2010 Scouting Combine as the top defensive back, if not top player, available in the 2010 NFL Draft. Berry solidified that status by running a 4.4-40, and posting off-the-charts athleticism via a 43” vertical leap and 10’10” broad jump.

The 5th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft will start immediately at free safety, adding a much-needed dynamic play-maker to the back-end of the Chiefs’ secondary.

Dolphins WR Brian Hartline Cited, Fined

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brian Hartline has been issued a citation and fined an undisclosed amount by the Florida Highway Patrol, who found his his pick-up truck was found abandoned on I-595 on July 3, Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post reports.

"It’s disappointing only in the sense that from a communication standpoint, I wish that maybe we would’ve done a little bit better job that way," Dolphins head Tony Sparano said on Friday. "But other than that, that thing really is to bed."

FHP was unable to contact for Hartline for nearly two weeks, but the matter appears to be in both Hartline's and the Dolphins' rear-view mirrors.

Hartline, a 2009 fourth-round pick out of Ohio State, caught 31 passes for 506 yards and 3 touchdowns as a rookie, and is expected to compete with Davone Bess and Greg Camarillo for the starting job opposite Brandon Marshall.

49ers Agree to Terms With 2nd Round S Taylor Mays

Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com reports the San Francisco 49ers have agreed to terms on a four-year contract with second-round safety Taylor Mays.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

A four-year starter, the 6-3, 230-pound safety totaled 276 tackles and 5 interceptions during a highly-decorated career at the University of Southern California. A three-time All-Pac-10 and All-American selection, Mays picked up first-team honors after the 2008 and 2009 seasons.

Mays had an impressive workout at the 2010 Scouting Combine, running a 4.31-40 with a 41” vertical leap and 10’05” broad jump. Mays also did 24 reps on the bench press, but it was not enough to overcome his college gamefilm and questions about his ability to play the pass at the next level.

Mays slid out of the first round and to the 49ers in the middle portion (49th overall) of the second. Mays is expected to back-up Michael Lewis at strong safety, and team with free safety Dashon Goldson to form a formidable safety tandem in the near future.

First-round guard Mike Iupati is the team's lone unsigned pick.

49ers Sign Davis, Bowman

The San Francisco 49ers have signed first-round offensive tackle Anthony Davis and third-round linebacker Navorro Bowman, ESPN's Adam Schefte reports.

Terms of the deals were not disclosed.

A three-year starter at Rutgers, Davis started the last two seasons at left tackle after starting for much of his freshman year at right guard. Davis was first-team All-Big East in 2008 and 2009, and was a second-team All-American after last season.

The 11th overall pick of the 2010 NFL Draft, Davis is projected to start at right tackle for the 49ers this season.

Bowman was a two-year starter at Penn State, totaling 215 tackles, including 36 for a loss and 8 quarterback sacks for the Nittany Lions.

The 6-0, 242-pound Bowman added three interceptions, returning one 73 yards for a touchdown against Indiana last season. Bowman was a two-time first-team All-Big Ten selection, and declared for the NFL Draft following his junior season.

In San Francisco, Bowman is expected to compete with Scott McKillop for reps at the “Ted” inside linebacker position, and should see plenty of playing time with starter Takeo Spikes expected to be limited in training camp and the pre-season. Bowman will be a core member of the 49ers’ special teams units.

Both players are represented by Drew Rosenhaus.

With Davis and Bowman signed, the 49ers have first-round guard Mike Iupati and second-round safety Taylor Mays left to sign.

Report: Ravens CB Domonique Foxworth Tears ACL

Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times reports that Baltimore Ravens cornerback Domonique Foxworth will miss the 2010 season after suffering a torn ACL during a closed practice session on Thursday.

Losing Foxworth is a major blow to the Ravens' secondary, which has fellow projected starter Fabian Washington and key back-up Lardarius Webb recovering from knee surgeries. Pro Bowl safety Ed Reed may miss a significant portion of the regular season, as well.

Signed to a four-year, $27.2 million dollar contract as a free agent last off-season, Foxworth posted 53 tackles and 4 interceptions in 2009, as well as a team-high 16 passes defensed during his first season with his hometown town.

The former University of Maryland star was drafted in the third-round of the 2005 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos, who traded him to the Atlanta Falcons in 2008.

In 76 career games in the NFL, Foxworth has 264 tackles and 8 interceptions.

Packers Sign 1st Round OT Bryan Bulaga

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Green Bay Packers have signed first-round offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga to a five-year contract.

Schefter adds that Bulaga's deal is worth $14.75 million dollars, and includes $8.76 million in guarantees.

Bulaga started 28 of his 30 games at the University of Iowa, including 25 at left tackle. The 6-5, 314-pounder was a second-team All-Big Ten selection as a sophomore, before earning first-team honors in 2009, where he was also named the Big Ten's Offensive Lineman of the Year.

Bulaga was a second-team All-American in 2009, as well.

Big and athletic, Bulaga is expected to begin his NFL career behind Green Bay's veteran tackles Chad Clifton and Mark Tauscher. Bulaga is the the long-term replacement for Clifton at left tackle, though, and considering the injury histories of Clifton and Tauscher, it's likely only a matter of time before Bulaga joins the starting lineup.

Haynesworth Fails Conditioning Test, Ctd

Rick Maese of the Washington Post reports that Washington Redskins defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth failed his conditioning test...again.

As a result, Haynesworth will not be practicing with the team on Friday.

With Haynesworth being singled out by Mike Shanahan to complete this conditioning test, as a way to send the team entire a message, one wonders if the team's highest-paid player is sending a message right back.

Clausen Out to Improve Daily

Carolina Panthers second-round quarterback Jimmy Clausen open camps third on the Panthers' depth chart, behind expected starter Matt Moore and second-year passer Hunter Cantwell.

According to Darin Gantt of the Charlotte Observer, Clausen's main objective this summer is to improve every day.

"When I went to Notre Dame there were three quarterbacks ahead of me," Clausen said. "Whenever you get your reps, you have to go out there and make plays. I think that's the biggest thing. When your name gets called, whether it's one play or five plays, it doesn't really matter. You have to produce and make plays.

"My goal is to go out each and every day and improve what I need to improve and do everything I can to help the team improve. If I do that things are going well."

Clausen signed a four-year deal worth over $4 million dollars, including over $2.2 million in guarantees. Clausen's deal included a "Quarterback Premium", which though base salary escalators can push his deal to $6.3 million dollars in total value.

Another interesting tidbit in Clausen's contract is when his "one-timer" (an easily achievable bonus in first- and second-round contracts that is backed by future base salary guarantees) comes due.

Most of the second-rounders to date will receive their "one-timers" on various days of 2011 training camp, but a source with knowledge of Clausen's contract says his $923,00 payment isn't due until the 15th day of the 2012 league year, even if Clausen reaches the playing time or performance incentives to trigger the payment in 2010.

If the bonus is not earned in 2010 or 2011, the Panthers can supersede the contract and convert it to a signing bonus early in the 2012 league year.

Texans Agree to Terms With Kareem Jackson

The Houston Texans have agreed to terms on a five-year contract with first-round cornerback Kareem Jackson, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

A starter from the moment he arrived in Tuscaloosa, Jackson posted 159 tackles and five interceptions for the Crimson Tide. Jackson broke up 29 passes during his career, and opted to forgo his final year of eligibility to enter the 2010 NFL Draft.

The 5-10, 196-pound Jackson ran a 4.4-40 at the Combine, and showed off his athleticism with a 37.5" vertical leap and 9'10" broad jump.

With the Texans losing Dunta Robinson to free agency, Jackson has an opportunity to repeat his college career by immediately stepping into a starting role in the Texans' secondary. Signing in time for camp was his first hurdle, which he and his agent have cleared with ease.

Redskins Agree to Terms With Trent Williams

Jason Reid of the Washington Post reports the Washington Redskins have reached a multi-year agreement with first-round offensive tackle Trent Williams.

Financial terms and length of the deal were not disclosed.

"We just got the deal done in the last couple of hours," agent Vincent Taylor tells Reid. "There are just a couple of things we have to still work out, a few details to work out, but Trent plans to be there [at Redskins Park] to sign it and get going."

A three-year starter at the University of Oklahoma, Williams spent the majority of his college career at right tackle, making 27 of his 39 career starts on the right side. Williams started on the left side as a senior, and was a first-team All-American selection and was named first-team All-Big Ten for the second consecutive season.

The fourth overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Redskins selected Williams to replace Chris Samuels at left tackle. Like Williams, Samuels was chosen in the Top 5 of the draft (3rd overall, 2000) and was a six-time Pro Bowler before injuries put an end to his playing career.

At 6-5 and 315 pounds, Williams has prototypical left tackle size, and is an exceptional athlete, running a 4.81-40 with a 34.5” vertical leap at the 2010 Scouting Combine. Combined with his length, strength, and footwork, Williams has the physical tools to develop into a Pro Bowler.

The Redskins acquired 2008 Pro Bowler Jammal Brown from the New Orleans Saints, but are still expected to start Williams at left tackle and task him with protecting Donovan McNabb’s blindside.

Saints Agree to Terms With 1st Round CB Patrick Robinson

The New Orleans Saints have agreed to terms with first-round cornerback, Steve Wyche of NFL.com reports.

Financial terms of the five-year deal were not disclosed. Wyche reports that Robinson is expected to be on the practice field on Friday.

Robinson started just 24 of his 44 games at Florida State University, but showed early on in hi career that he was capable of being a play-maker on the edge. Robinson picked off six interceptions as a sophomore, including grabbing INTs in five consecutive games.

Suspended for four games as part of an academic scandal at FSU, Robinson had a quieter junior season, intercepting just one pass in eight games.

Last season, Robinson started a career-high 11 games, posting career-highs in tackles (47) and pass break-ups (11), which ranked 5th in the ACC.

The 5-11, 190-pound Robinson solidified his first-round status by running the 40-yard dash in 4.38 seconds, and demonstrating a 39” vertical leap and 10’02” broad jump.

Robinson is not expected to start as a rookie, but will be in the mix for the Saints’ nickel corner role, and his speed should be an asset on special teams.

Eagles Sign 1st Round DE Brandon Graham

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Philadelphia Eagles have signed first-round defensive end Brandon Graham to a five-year contract.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but the team has confirmed the signing and waived wide receiver Blue Cooper to make room for Graham on the 80-man roster.

In 46 career games at Michigan, the 6-2, 268-pound Graham totaled 138 tackles, including 56 for a loss and 29.5 quarterback sacks. Graham forced eight and recovered three fumbles, had three pass break-ups, and blocked a pair of kicks, returning one for a touchdown.

A two-time All-Big Ten selection, including first-team after the 2009 season, Graham also earned second-team All-American honors in 2009.

Philadelphia traded all the way up to the 13th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft to select the pass-rushing prospect, and envision Graham teaming with Pro Bowl right defensive end Trent Cole to form one of the most formidable pass-rushing tandems in the NFL.

Graham is the last of the Eagles' 13 picks in the 2010 NFL Draft to come to terms, and should hit the practice field for the first time on Friday.

The New York Jets announced that they have signed safety Emanuel Cook, and waived linebacker Ezra Butler.

Cook entered the NFL with the Jets, who signed him as an undrafted free agent out of the University of South Carolina in 2009. Cook had four tackles and recovered a fumble on special teams, but did not make the team's 53-man roster.

Cook (5-10, 205) began the '09 season on the Jets' practice squad, but was released after one week. Cook eventually landed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' practice squad, and was signed to a "Reserve/Futures" contract the season.

The Bucs released him on June 18.

Additionally, the Jets announced that fourth-round running back Joe McKnight did not pass his conditioning test, and was placed on the "Active/Non-Football Injury" list.

Quarterback Erik Ainge was placed on the "Reserve/Non-Football Injury" list with an undisclosed illness. Ainge will not count against the team's 80-man roster limit.

Eagles Sign WR Jared Perry

The Philadelphia Eagles announced the signing of undrafted rookie free agent wide receiver Jared Perry.

Rookie wide receiver Kevin Jurovich was waived with an injury settlement.

Perry was one of two receivers to work out for the Eagles this morning, with veteran Kelley Washington the other.

Perry (6-1, 180) caught 137 passes for 1,844 yards and 13 touchdowns during his four-year career at the University of Missouri. He went undrafted in 2010 and signed with the San Francisco 49ers, who waived him on Monday.

Perry was college teammates with Eagles 2009 first-round pick Jeremy Maclin

Texans Agree to Terms With 2nd Round RB Ben Tate

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports the Houston Texans have agreed to terms with second-round running back Ben Tate.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Tate was Auburn University’s leading rusher in each of the last three seasons, capping his 47-game career with a 1,362-yard and 10-touchdown performance as a senior in 2009. Tate’s 3,321 career rushing yards rank 5th on the Tigers’ all-time list, behind only Bo Jackson, Cadillac Williams, James Brooks, and Joe Cribbs.

Tate followed up his productive senior season with a stellar workout at the 2010 Scouting Combine. The 5-11, 220-pound running back ran a sub-4.4 time in the 40-yard dash, did 26 reps on the bench press, and posted a 40.5” vertical leap with a 10’04” broad jump.

The Texans believe Tate is big, powerful downhill runner, who’ll be a perfect fit in their one-cut-and-go ground game. Tate missed most of the Texans’ OTAs with a hamstring injury, so he’ll need to make up ground during training camp.

Texans rookies report to training camp, and they'll do with first-round cornerback Kareem Jackson their lone unsigned pick...for now.

Broncos Agree to Terms With Tim Tebow

Michael Lombardi of NFL Network and NFL.com reports the Denver Broncos have agreed to terms with first-round quarterback Tim Tebow.

According to Lombardi, the five-year deal is worth $33 million dollars, and includes $8.7 million in guarantees.

In case you’ve just emerged from a four-year slumber, Tebow is one the most decorated and divisive players to come out of the college ranks in 20 years.

A 6-3, 236-pound quarterback from the University of Florida, Tebow completed 66.4% of his passes for 9,285 yards, with 88 touchdowns against 18 interceptions. Tebow added 2,947 yards and an SEC-record 57 touchdowns on the ground. Between his passing and rushing yards, Tebow generated an SEC-record 12,232 yards of total offense during his 55-game career.

Tebow is a three-time first-team All-SEC selection, and was named the SEC’s Offensive Player of the Year in 2007, 2008, and 2009. Tebow was the first sophomore in history to win the Heisman Trophy as a sophomore, and was a finalist for the award in each of the past two seasons.

Despite his on-field, Tebow enters the NFL with concerns about whether or not he’ll be an effective NFL quarterback.

Questions regarding his mechanics and arm strength were largely put to rest during the pre-draft process, where Tebow worked diligently with Marc Trestman, the head coach of the Montreal Allouetes and former college and NFL quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator.

Tebow’s progress prompted the Broncos to trade back into the first-round to take Tebow with the 25th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. Tebow’s development continued during the Broncos’ OTAs and mini-camp, and the rookie jumped in front of second-year quarterback Tom Brandstater, who was subsequently waived.

Tebow enters training camp as the Broncos’ third quarterback, behind starter Kyle Orton and former first-round pick Brady Quinn, who was acquired from the Cleveland Browns this off-season.

There’s a thought that head coach Josh McDaniels could devise packages to get Tebow onto the field as a rookie, particularly in goal-line packages that Tebow excelled at during his career with the Gators. In order for these packages to work, Tebow will need to show enough progress during training camp for the coaching staff to be comfortable designating him the #2 quarterback on Sundays.

Merriman Won't Be On Time for Camp

San Diego Chargers outside linebacker Shawne Merriman will not arrive in time for the start of training camp, Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

"It's not about me wanting more money," Merriman told Acee. "I will show what I deserve. I don’t have to ask for it. I feel like I've proved what I'm worth, and I will still prove it. To me, it really comes down to, 'Am I on the trading block this week? The third week of the season, am I on the block?' Where is that comfortability for me?

"I'm only coming back to be the guy on the defense. I'm not coming back to be a guy. I want to be on a team where someone is going to be building a defense around me."

Chargers veterans are scheduled to report to training camp on Friday.

A restricted free agent this off-season, Merriman was tendered at the "First- and Third-Round" level. Merriman has not signed the tender, which carries a non-guaranteed $3.269 million dollar base salary in 2010, so he's not obligated to be on time for training camp.

Merriman is seeking a long-term commitment from the Chargers, who on Wednesday signed perennial Pro Bowl tight end Antonio Gates to a five-year, $36 million dollar contract extension that included over $20 million in guarantees.

Merriman was dominant his first three seasons in the NFL, posting 187 tackles, including 39.5 quarterback sacks, and making three straight trips to the Pro Bowl, as well as earning 2005 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year honors.

A knee injury limited Merriman to just one game in 2008, and the former first-round pick out of Maryland managed just 39 tackles and 4 quarterback sacks in 14 games last season.

Earlier this off-season, Merriman fired agent Tom Condon, hiring David Dunn to handle his affairs.

Steelers Strike Deal With OT Flozell Adams

Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network reports the Pittsburgh Steelers and veteran left tackle Flozell Adams have agreed to terms on a multi-year contract.

Financial terms were not immediately disclosed.

A second-round pick out of Michigan State in 1998 by the Dallas Cowboys, Adams (6-7, 338) has started 178 of 182 career games at left tackle during his career, earning five trips to the Pro Bowl.

Adams was released by the Cowboys in early April for financial purposes.

The Steelers have been in the market for an experienced offensive tackle since losing Willie Colon for the 2010 season with an Achilles' injury.

Dolphins Agree to Terms With 2nd Round LB Koa Misi

Jeff Darlington of the Miami Herald reports that the Miami Dolphins have agreed to terms with second-round linebacker Koa Misi.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

A starter in 36 of his 38 games at the University of Utah, making starts at each spot along the defensive line, including nose tackle.

The 6-3, 251-pounder totaled 205 tackles, including 26 for a loss and 10.5 quarterback sacks, with six forced fumbles, eight pass break-ups, and three fumble recoveries, one he returned 28 yards for a touchdown. Misi was a two-time All-Mountain West Conference selection, picking up first-team honors after starting games at defensive end.

Misi possesses decent speed, but is an explosive athlete, posting a 38” vertical leap and 10’07” broad jump at the 2010 Scouting Combine. An instinctual player, Misi will play outside linebacker for Dolphins, where he’s expected to start immediately after the off-season departures of Jason Taylor and Joey Porter.

With Misi agreeing to terms, the Dolphins will open training camp with all of their 2010 draft picks under contract.

Brad Cottam Clears Waivers, Lands on PUP

6-7, 269-pound tight end Brad Cottam has cleared waivers, and was placed on the Kansas City Chiefs' "Reserve/PUP" list on Thursday.

A neck injury ended Cottam's 2009 season, and Cottam was waived after failing a physical on Wednesday.

Cottam has caught 16 passes for 183 yards in 24 games since the Chiefs used the 76th overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft on the former University of Tennessee star.

Colts, Pat Angerer Agree to Terms

Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports that the Indianapolis Colts have finalized a four-year, $3.14 million dollar contract with second-round linebacker Pat Angerer.

Plagued by the injury bug during his first two seasons at the University of Iowa, the 6-0, 235-pound Angerer posted 252 tackles, including 11.5 for a loss and two quarterback sacks, with six interceptions as a starting linebacker for the Hawkeyes.

Angerer earned second-team All-American honors and first-team All-Big Ten honors after his senior season, after earning second-team All-Big Ten honors as a junior.

Angerer will back-up Gary Brackett at middle linebacker, and his coverage skills will get him some playing time on passing downs. Angerer will be a core member of the Colts’ special teams units this season.

Giants Waive S Chad Jones

Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News reports that the New York Giants have waived/injured third-round safety Chad Jones.

Once Jones clears waivers, which he's expected to do, the Giants will place him on injured reserve. Jones will miss the 2010 season after nearly losing his left leg in a single-car accident in New Orleans last month.

The Giants have also claimed linebacker Alex Hall off waivers from the Philadelphia Eagles.

Hall, a seventh-round pick (231st overall) out of St. Augustine by the Browns in 2008, has started two games during first two seasons in the league, and has totaled 38 tackles and 3 quarterback sacks. Hall (6-5, 250) has 15 tackles and a forced fumble on special teams, and is signed through the 2011 season with base salaries of $470,000 (2010) and $555,000 (2011).

Glazer: Falcons Reach Deal With Sean Weatherspoon

Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com reports that Atlanta Falcons first-round linebacker Sean Weatherspoon has agreed to terms on a five-year contract.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

A three-year starter at the University of Missouri, the 6-1, 239-pound weak-side linebacker was a tackling machine, racking up 413 tackles, including 43.5 for a loss, in a 53-game career. Weatherspoon added 12.5 quarterback sacks, five forced fumbles, and picked off four passes for the Tigers, returning two for touchdowns.

Weatherspoon showed off the speed (4.52-40) to be a sideline-to-sideline defender, and the strength (34 reps on bench press) to take on and shed blockers at the next level.

Chosen with the 19th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, Weatherspoon brings a lot of versatility to the linebackers corps. Weatherspooon will compete with Stephen Nicholas for the Falcons' starting strong-side linebacker job this summer, and could see time in nickel packages next to middle linebacker Curtis Lofton.

Dolphins 1st Round DE Jared Odrick Agrees to Terms

Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com reports that Miami Dolphins first-round defensive end Jared Odrick has agreed to terms on a contract.

Financial terms on the five-year deal were not immediately known.

The 6-5, 301-pound Odrick was a three-year starter at Penn State, totaling 104 tackles, including 25.5 for a loss and 14.5 quarterback sacks from the defensive tackle position.

Odrick had a career year in 2009, posting career highs with 43 tackles and seven quarterback sacks. Odrick was named the Big Ten's Defensive Player of the Year, and earned second-team All-American honors in 2009 to go along with his second consecutive first-team All-Big Ten selection.

Odrick has an excellent chance of earning a starting job right away, with the Dolphins looking at him as an ideal "5" technique end.

Roger Goodell Statement on Vince Young

Speaking to reporters after the Green Bay Packers' shareholders meeting in Wisconsin, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell commented on his decision not to suspend Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young for his involvement in a fight inside a Dallas-area strip club in June.

"And at this stage, based on the facts that we have, I see no reason for any kind of disciplinary action. I did have a good conversation with Vince, however, about his responsibility as an NFL player. He needs to avoid putting himself in that kind of position," Goodell said, according to the Associated Press.

Cutler Mindful of Lovie Smith's Job Security

Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler is mindful of head coach Lovie Smith's job security heading into the 2010 season.

"Lovie is one of the best coaches I've been around, and I know that everyone on this team has a great amount of respect for him as he does for us," Cutler said, according to Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times. "I know that some of the guys who have been here longer than me definitely have a lot of ties with him and want to go out there for him and play well.

"You never know what's going to happen this year, if we don't go out and perform, if Lovie is to stay or not. So, that's definitely a question that, I'm sure, is in the back of everyone else's mind. But we can't worry about it. We have to play hard, and if we do that, everything else will take care of itself."

Since hiring Smith in 2004, the Bears are 52-44 during the regular season, winning back-to-back NFC North titles in 2005 and 2006. The Bears are 2-2 in post-season, and lost to the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLI. In the last three seasons, however, the Bears are 23-25 and have missed the post-season.

Smith, 52, has two years and $11 million dollars remaining on a contract extension signed after the Bears' Super Bowl season in 2006.

Buccaneers Sign 7th Round S Cody Grimm

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced the signing of seventh-round safety Cody Grimm.

Financial terms were not disclosed. Undrafted rookie defensive back Dennis Rogan was waived to make room for Grimm on the 80-man roster.

A walk-on at Virginia Tech who was relegated to special teams duties his first two seasons in Blacksburg, Grimm played his way into the starting lineup at linebacker by his senior season, earning third-team All-American honors after the 2009 season.

Grimm, the son of Hall of Fame guard Russ Grimm, totaled 207 tackles, including 23.5 for a loss and 10 quarterback sacks. Grimm added 7 pass break-ups, intercepted two passes, and forced 9 fumbles during his career, including an NCAA-best 7 during the 2009 season.

At 5-11 and 203 pounds, Grimm will move to the back-end of the secondary in the NFL. Grimm ran the 40-yard dash in 4.48 seconds at his Pro Day, and posted a vertical leap of 35.5” at the 2010 Scouting Combine. Special teams will be his ticket to a spot on the 53-man roster this summer.

Seahawks Agree to Terms With Chester Pitts

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Seattle Seahawks have reached agreement on a contract with free agent guard Chester Pitts.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Pitts has spent his entire NFL career with the Houston Texans, who selected him in the second-round in the 2002 NFL Draft. The 31-year old Pitts is coming off a knee injury that ended his 2009 season, as well as his streak of 114 consecutive starts.

Pitts visited the Seahawks in March, but was unable to pass a physical. The 6-4, 308-pound Pitts recently received medical clearance to return to the field, and worked out for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Indianapolis Colts last week in Arizona.

Pitts visited the Buffalo Bills on Monday.

While Pitts was rehabbing his surgically-repaired knee, the Seahawks signed guard Ben Hamilton, who is locked in as a the starting left guard/on-field line coach for left tackle Russell Okung, the sixth overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft and long-term replacement for future Hall of Famer Walter Jones.

Hamilton's one-year deal is worth over $2 million dollars.

2009 second-round pick Max Unger is scheduled to start at right guard, with restricted free agent Chris Spencer, a first-round pick in 2005, penciled in at center.

Spencer has battled injuries throughout his career, and if he were to be injured again, Unger would be the likely replacement. Hamilton, who turns 33 in August, has also had injury issues in the past (missed the entire 2007 season)

While the Seahawks do not have a clear starting opportunity to offer Pitts at this time, he gives the Seahawks' veteran depth along the interior of the offensive line, and could be another on-field line coach for Gibbs and the Seahawks.

Defensive end Robert Henderson and linebacker Anthony Heygood were released to fit Pitts and second-round pick Golden Tate on the 80-man off-season roster.
