Washington Redskins offensive lineman Will Montgomery recently signed a one-year contract extension, NFLPA records indicate.
A restricted free agent this off-season, Montgomery was tendered at the "Original Round" level, which carried a base salary of $1.176 million for the 2010 season. NFLPA records now have Montgomery's base salary at $630,000 in 2010 and $640,000 in 2011.
According to a league source, Montgomery received an undisclosed roster bonus, and through playing-time incentives, can increase his total compensation in each of the next two seasons.
Chosen in the a seventh round (234th overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft out of Virginia Tech by the Carolina Panthers, Montgomery started four of the six games he was active as a rookie before he was waived at the start of the 2007 season.
Signed by the New York Jets, Montgomery started two games in '07 before being waived and claimed by the Redskins midway through the 2008 season. The 6-3, 305-pound Montgomery was active for all 16 games last season, making three starts at right guard.
