The Kansas City Chiefs announced that they have released wide receiver Devard Darling and running back Dantrell Savage.
Darling and Savage finished 2009 on injured reserve, and had one year remaining on their contracts with the Chiefs. As a player with six accrued seasons, Darling is free to sign with another team, while Savage, with two years of service, is subject to waivers.
Darling (6-1, 215) caught 17 passes for 247 yards and a touchdown for the Chiefs in 2008, and has 37 receptions for 578 yards and four touchdowns during his NFL career. Savage (5-8, 182) has 98 rushing yards on 25 carries, with 9 receptions for 51 yards out of the backfield. He's also averaged 23.3 yards on 34 kick returns.
