In the wake of the news that recently released New Orleans Saints long-snapper Kevin Houser was apparently the point man in an investment deal that went south, a deal involving nearly two dozen current and former members of the Saints, including head coach Sean Payton, the question is being raised of whether or not Houser's involvement in the deal prompted his release.
The Times-Picayune videotaped an interview with Houser, who says that Payton was honest and upfront with him about the roster move being made purely for football reasons.
But that doesn't stop the Times-Picayune from speculating, and I've got to admit that it was a bit surprised that the Saints released Houser, who'd handled the long-snapping duties for the last 10 years, to sign a 37-year old long-snapper who division rival Carolina was trying to replace.
