Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White was a no-show for the team's media session this afternoon. A noteworthy matter, but not a huge deal as players had until 5pm to report to training camp.
When 5pm ET came and went, though, it became an issue.
According to Adam Schefter, the Pro Bowl receiver also was a no-show at the Falcons' 6:30pm ET team meeting and isn't expected to be in training camp tomorrow when the Falcons hit the field for the first time.
In his four years with the Falcons, White has 230 receptions for 3,536 yards and 16 touchdowns. He's posted back-to-back 80+ reception/1,200+ yard seasons.
White is entering the final year of his contract, and despite triggering incentives that escalated his 2009 base salary to $2.28 million dollars, the fifth-year receiver is looking for a long-term commitment from the Falcons. Recent reports indicated that talks between White and the Falcons weren't going as well as both sides had hoped.
Perhaps White's statement today will spur things along.
