The Detroit Lions have reached agreement on a five-year deal with first-round tight end Brandon Pettigrew.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Pettigrew (6-5, 263) was the most complete tight end in the 2009 draft. A four-year starter at Oklahoma State, Pettigrew caught 112 passes for 1,450 yards and 9 touchdowns during his 47-game career.
While Pettigrew is not a big down-field threat, Pettigrew is a big, sure-handed receiver who will make an immediate impact on third downs and in the red zone. He's also an outstanding blocker, finishing his blocks with the demeanor of an offensive lineman.
With Pettigrew signed, the Lions have wrapped up their entire 2009 draft class on time.
