Chargers Agree to Terms With 1st Round LB Larry English

Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the San Diego Chargers have agreed to terms on a five-year deal with first-round linebacker Larry English.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman signed a $36 million dollar deal earlier today. Quarterbacks are more highly paid than other positions, though, so a more pertinent number to look at was the $10.25 million in guarantees in Freeman's contract.

English was the Mid-American Conference Player of the Year in both 2007 and 2008, also earning the MAC Defensive Player of the Year award following his senior season. English racked up a school-record 32.5 quarterback sacks in his 50-game career, adding 212 tackles, including 57 for a loss.

At 6-2 and 255 pounds, English is a fast, aggressive pass-rusher who'll fit in well in the Chargers' defense.
