The Houston Texans are expected to announce the signing today of free agent outside linebacker Roosevelt Colvin.
After entering the league with the Chicago Bears, Colvin, 30, spent five seasons with the New England Patriots. He earned two Super Bowl rings with the Patriots, however, Colvin seriously injured his hip early in the 2003 season and didn't crack the starting lineup until 2005. His 2007 season ended in November, when he was placed on injured reserve.
Colvin, who has passed his physical with the Texans, is expected to boost the Texans' pass rush. In his 9-year career, Colvin has 52.5 career sacks (26.5 with NE, 26.0 with Chicago).
