According to a six-page affidavit filed by the Drug Enforcement Agency in U.S. District Court in Boston, New England Patriots tackle Nick Kaczur was arrested in April for illegal possession of prescription painkillers and participated in an undercover drug sting to nab his alleged supplier.
Kaczur reportedly wore a wire during three transactions, which took place at gas stations in Foxborough, North Attleborough and a supermarket parking lot in Sharon, Massachusetts.
When approached by a Boston Globe reporter, Kaczur denied his involvement in the undercover sting.
"I don't know what you're talking about, bro," Kaczur said repeatedly, in response to questions about the investigation. "I don't know where this is coming from. I don't know what you are talking about."
Including the playoffs, Kaczur started 18 of 19 games at right tackle in 2007, only sitting out the regular season finale. Despite his apparent cooperation in the undercover sting, Kaczur is still subject to discipline under the league's substance abuse policy.
Kaczur is the third member of the Patriots to be arrested on drug-related charges this off-season. Running back Kevin Faulk and defensive back Willie Andrews were arrested for possession of marijuana earlier this year.
NFL News and Notes
New York Jets tight end Chris Baker wants a new contract and could be this summer's version on Pete Kendall.
Miami Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano has told Jason Taylor that he and the organization want Taylor to play for the Dolphins.
Cleveland Browns general manager Phil Savage says there's no rush to get tight end Kellen Winslow signed to a Dallas Clark-sized contract extension. Winslow has three years and $13.25 million remaining on his current deal. The Browns defense will be tested in 2008.
In the ESPN Magazine he guest edited, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson said that he plans on returning to the Bengals.
Baltimore Ravens left tackle Jonathan Ogden is expected to announce his retirement within the next week or so, writes Mike Preston.
Indianapolis Colts head caoch Tony Dungy believes players generally make the biggest leap between their first and second seasons. Mike Chappell writes that could bode well for the Colts, who are coming off a season where 20 of their players (nearly 40% of the roster) made their NFL debut.
Jacksonville Jaguars second-year wide receiver Mike Walker, who spent his rookie on IR, made a good first impression on Tuesday. Jaguars defensive end Brent Hawkins is making the switch to linebacker.
In the battle to replace Jacob Bell as the starting left guard for the Tennessee Titans, Eugene Amano appears to have the edge on Leroy Harris.
Houston Texans general manager Rick Smith agreed to a four-year contract extension. Free agent linebacker Roosevelt Colvin will visit the Texans today.
Kells Christian, who filed a class-action lawsuit against the San Diego Chargers last year regarding their playoff refund policy, has reached an undisclosed settlement with the team. ($50 gift certificate to the team shop! Score!)
A slobbering Woody Paige thinks Denver Broncos running back Selvin Young's goal of 2,000 is attainable. By releasing Travis Henry this week, Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan's actions are speaking louder than words.
Oakland Raiders running back LaMont Jordan showed up for the team's mandatory mini-camp on Tuesday, but the team didn't allow him to participate on the field.
Jean-Jacques Taylor of the Dallas Morning News writes that Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has removed every obstacle, distraction and excuse and now the team must win a playoff game in 2008. Taylor overlooks that when the team begins training camp, they'll do so with an NFL Films camera crew following their every move.
New York Giants defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka was excited to be back on the field during a spirited Giants practice on Tuesday.
In Jason La Canfora's Washington Redskins notebook, second-year safety LaRon Landry was on the field Tuesday, Shawn Springs was still missing, and Santana Moss confessed that a weekend of partying led to his "illness" on Monday morning.

Green Bay Packers linebacker Brandon Chillar, the team's only notable free agent signing this off-season, is working hard to get up to speed in the team's system, and he's getting help from the guy he'll be competing against for a starting job. Packers running back Noah Herron used a bed post to fight off burglars in his Village of Howard home.
Minnesota Vikings left tackle Bryant McKinnie hopes to have the charges against him dropped by entering a pre-trial diversion program.
Detroit Lions defensive tackle Shaun Cody wants more sacks, less weight and a new contract, but even with the departure of Shaun Rogers, Cody may still be fighting just for a roster spot this year.
John Roman of the St. Petersburg Times got the ball rolling on Tuesday, but now the Tampa Tribune is reporting on the "firestorm" the Tampa Bay Buccaneers re-signing of tight end Jerramy Stevens has caused.
Take it away, WDAE-620 AM drive-time host Steve Duemig:
"I've said I will not let this die," Duemig said. "I think it's disgusting that he's a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. We talked about Stevens for four hours Monday, and there wasn't one dissenting opinion.
"I'm protesting this move, and I'd like to see Jerramy Stevens dismissed from this football team," Duemig said. "This might be the most passionate issue I've ever attacked in 17 years on the radio in this town. This even overtakes former Bucs quarterback Trent Dilfer."
New Orleans Saints wide receiver Skyler Green hopes to use his return skills to earn a roster spot.
Carolina Panthers safety Terrence Holt would like to eventually play alongside his brother Torry in their home state. Also within that piece, there's word that Panthers wide receiver D.J. Hackett missed his second consecutive workout because of a sore knee.
Atlanta Falcons cornerback Brent Grimes is the front-runner to replace DeAngelo Hall at left cornerback.

St. Louis Rams wide receiver Drew Bennett, who signed a 6-year contract worth $30 million last off-season, is out to justify his promotion to the starting lineup.

Mac's Football Blog. This blog is nice. The football game in which the 11 players are played in two teams. Using any part of body except hands and arms, try to maneuver the opposite team's goal. Goalkeeper only permitted to handle the ball and may do so only within the penalty area surroundings. The which scores more is win this game.
