Pacman Jones Contract Details

Todd Archer of The Dallas Morning News has the details of the contract Adam "Pacman" Jones signed with the Dallas Cowboys, and it's clear that Jones needs to play well to get the big money.

Jones' base salaries and roster/workout bonuses are as follows:

2008 - $700K base
2009 - $1M base; $250K roster bonus in March; $250K workout bonus
2010 - $3M base; $255K roster bonus in March; $250K workout bonus
2011 - $7.25M base

Jones' base salary in 2011 could escalate to the amount of the 2011 franchise tender if he reaches certain benchmarks. To do that, Jones would need to reach two Pro Bowls or intercept 7 passes in two of the first three seasons of the deal and participate in 65% of the snaps to get there.

NFL News and Notes

As the son of a 30-year military man, discipline, structure, commitment and accountability are not foreign concepts to New England Patriots first-round pick Jerod Mayo, who will be introduced to the Boston media today.

Buffalo Bills special teams coach Bobby April got some reinforcements in last weekend's draft.

Miami Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland met with the media yesterday for a post-draft news conference. A few of the Dolphins undrafted free agents have had run-ins with the law.

The Cleveland Browns claimed local product Steve Cargile off waivers.

Jim Steiner, the agent for free agent running back Shaun Alexander, plans on contacting the Cincinnati Bengals to gauge their interest in his client.

Indianapolis Colts fifth-round defensive end Marcus Howard thinks he'll be able to help the Colts rush the passer.

Free agent safety Pierson Prioleau signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who also released quarterback Lester Ricard.

Franchised Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth is working hard this off-season and hopes to get a long-term deal done with the Titans.

How assistant general manager Buddy Nix left the San Diego Chargers' front office depends on who you speak to.

Let's see if I got this right. You're a Denver Broncos fan. Last weekend, you're at home watching the draft and your team just used the 42nd pick on wide receiver Eddie Royal. This decision baffles you, so you decide to fire off a question....to Woody Paige?!?!??

Chuck Tabor, Jared Allen's partner and general manager of the Jared Allen Sports Arena and Grill in Kansas City, says they never would've opened the bar had they known Allen would be traded. Former Florida quarterback Chris Leak will work out for the Chiefs this weekend.

Franchised Oakland Raiders cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha recently took six underprivileged youth from East Oakland on a college tour in the Boston area.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo and his father Ramiro spoke last night at a cancer benefit in Dallas.

The New York Giants visited the White House yesterday, and President Bush called the Giants win in Super Bowl XLII "one of the great, legendary football games in our country's history." (Jeremy Shockey, Michael Strahan, Osi Umenyiora, Antonio Pierce, Steve Smith and Aaron Ross did not attend.)

After seeing how many three and four-wide receiver formations the Seattle Seahawks used against Washington in January, Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell approved of the additional receiving weapons added in the draft.

Philadelphia Eagles safety Brian Dawkins thinks the team could've handled the Lito Sheppard situation better than they have.

It doesn't sound like wide receiver Koren Robinson is going to be in Green Bay much longer.

Former Minnesota Vikings defensive end Darrion Scott was arrested for assault, assault/domestic and malicious punishment of a child.

Matt Millen has thoughts. (SHOCKING!) After reading this transcript of Detroit Lions defensive tackle Andre Fluellen's interview with WDFN-AM, it would be a good idea for Fluellen to latch himself onto Chuck Darby as soon as possible.

The Atlanta Falcons hired David Caldwell, who will be the team's director of college scouting.

After losing kicker Josh Brown and key special teams players Niko Koutouvides and Kevin Bentley to free agency, Seattle Seahawks special teams coach Bruce DeHaven will get to see what he has to work with when the 'Hawks start mini-camp tomorrow.

Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee wonders what the San Francisco 49ers draft might have looked like had "Tampergate" not taken place.
