Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Marvin Harrison "is not a suspect at this point", according to Philadelphia police spokeswoman Tanya Little.
Bob Kravitz of the Indianapolis Star writes that it's "too early" for him to take a stand on the Harrison incident because too much remains unknown at this point.
Kravitz has a good point. Based on the rumors, anonymous sources and circumstantial evidence, Harrison should be under arrest right now. Yet, for some reason, Philadelphia police haven't even named him as a suspect.
Maybe this story simply isn't as juicy as we've been lead to believe.
Or, maybe the Philadelphia police wants to have all their ducks in a row before naming a high-profile professional athlete as a suspect in a violent crime.
I'm not saying Harrison pull the trigger, I'm just looking at we do know:
- Shots were fired outside a nightclub owned by Harrison, leaving two people injured.
- The two major newspapers in Philadelphia and ESPN each report that the gun used in that shooting was later discovered at a car wash owned by Harrison.
- That gun is registered in Harrison's name.
You don't have to be Columbo to come to the conclusion that this probably isn't going to end well for Marvin Harrison.
