Aside from the #1 pick, we don't usually hear about first round picks agreeing to contracts for another month or so.
Well, this off-season is shaping up to be quite different from the previous ones. Today, the Atlanta Falcons agreed to a six-year contract with the first of their two first-round picks, quarterback Matt Ryan.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but Adam Schefter of the NFL Network (surprise, surprise) is reporting that Ryan will get $72 million over the 6 years, including $34.75 million in guaranteed money. Jake Long, the #1 pick of the draft, only received $30 million in guarantees.
Ryan will be introduced to the Atlanta media at 8pm ET.
