Wilfork to be Fined

ESPN's Chris Mortensen just reported on Sunday NFL Countdown that the NFL is expected to fine Vince Wilfork for poking New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs. Mortensen added that a suspension hasn't been ruled out, but because Jacobs was not injured on the play, it appears unlikely that the NFL will go in that direction.

The way I see it, there are three reasons for Wilfork to have his hand inside Jacob's facemask after the whistle.

a. To poke Jacobs in the forehead.

b. To poke Jacobs in the eye.

c. To pick Jacobs' nose.

The first one is unlikely since you could just do that outside of the helmet, and visual evidence on the Internets suggest that Wilfork rarely misses a targeted nose, so the answer is clearly "b".

In which case, Wilfork definitely deserves to be fined, and the reputation that he is not a dirty player. Many were willing to give him the free pass following the Randy "Macho Man" Savage-like elbow dive he landed on JP Losman's prone left knee back in September, but not anymore.
